Advantages: Good laughter value

Disadvantages: Too many deaths - not a soap if you want something near real life

Family Affairs does not set the world alight. Well, not the viewing world anyway. If you?re a character in it, then you might well be set alight.

Drifting along in the original Channel 5 schedule the soap was spiced up. It became your average soap but a lot nastier. In other words more characters were bumped off, most notably just about the entire Hart family on a canal barge explosion. Characters are killed off so often you begin to wonder if someone in the soap will leave, quoting ?Charnham?s high rates of murders and fatal accidents?.

I would go into the characters, but because of the nature of the programme they change so quickly you almost cannot guarantee who will be in it from one week to the next. Normally it is your usual mix of bad guys, bad girls and a few other people just to make up the numbers.

Pretty average but with a lot of deaths, I pity the actors and actresses and their need for job security.
