Advantages: Good characters, good storylines

Disadvantages: Hhhmn, can't think of any

The problem with soap operas is that all the storylines revolve around the same people, so that you are inevitably going to get some "Family Affairs". It seems to me that this show does it particularly well, and often.

I must admit, I'm a fairly recent convert, so didn't see the original cast. We do seem to have some rather interesting characters at the mo though. Cat and Dave are particularly fab. Cat, you may remember was married to Nigel in Eastenders before she pegged it and plays such a different role in this show. I'm not one to mock the afflicted, being none too tiny in the buttock region myself, but they must be paying her a fair old wack for the tighty pants she has to pour herself into.

Interesting storylines are rife too. Take Dave, the pub landlord and all-out baddy who murdered a young lad and has blamed his wife! The young wife in question has now started self-harming (a nice, new controversial topic that is being dealt with incredibly well) and he's trying to force her to have his baby and won't let her get help lest it affect his custody battle over his other child. Like yeah Dave, the courts will give custody to the worst (or best) baddy since the old guy who tried to kill Rita Fairclough! If they do, I ain't watching no more!!

Of course, it's soap opera so there are bound to be duff actors flying around. For me, this is Luisa. An actress so wooden they do her make-up in the set department and fix her hair with Mr Sheen. I'm sure she must be the Director's wife! I am impressed with the special effects, though, 'cos you really can't see the strings!

On the whole, a fab show. Always an exciting storyline or two on the go and with yummy Declan to keep us girlies happy (just what I needed with Gianni out of Eastenders). If you like soaps then you'll love this (hopefully). It makes you realise how easy life is when you don't live in Charnham

Good opinion. I'm a part-time viewer of the soap and I find it really entertaining when I do watch it. By the way, its not Dave thats the bad guy, its Pete Callan!

I was converted my my old house mate and now I'm no longer a student moved back home where we can't get channel five. I don't know if Dave got away with the murder and whether Cath is still a nutbar!!! I know what you mean about her dreadful leggings though!
