Advantages: Can be quite dramatic

Disadvantages: Hard to get into, Lots of stories at once, Some characters don't serve a purpose

Family Affairs has been running for some time now on Channel 5, and, although it has its following, I didn't find it that easy to get into when I started watching it the other week. The storylines appear to be not going anywhere, and seem to be dragging on already, and I have only tuned in for a few episodes. There are two characters called Nikki and Adrian, and they have children together, but are separated. Events like an armed robbery keep on happening, but it seems as if there isn;t going to be a climax to the plot. That goes for this other character called Cat, she is portrayed as a boozy woman, who sleeps around a lot, but doesn't have much purpose other than that. It looks as if the characters don't know what to do next or theyserve no purpose.
If you were watching it for the first time, you couldn't get ino it straight away, you would have to know the background of all the characters and what is going on. In another soap, like Coronation Street, you could flick on to it, and know what was going on, as theere are always hints and reminders, but with Family Sffairs, it gets qwuite twisted and complicated, and I have been confused and lost on occasions.
