I used to love family guy, i had a great number of episodes on DVD and i used to love watching the new series on BBC Three, and despite being on at 11pm on Sunday night i did used to stay up and watch despite having work the next day. Why? Because i absolutely loved it, it made me smile, laugh and actually was worth the groggy start to the next morning.
Now though i don't and it's purely because of the poor joke quality compared to the last few seasons. Season 10 just isn't funny to me, where did all the light hearted racial stereotyping go? i used to love conseula the hispanic house maid! Instead in some of the newer seasons i think there are just bad taste jokes, jokes about brutally beating up a dog for money, inbreeding elves at santa's grotto, things like that. Peter meeting his drunken irishman dad was very funny, and quagmire seems to be the only funny character left.
The show does a lot of cutaway gags which i think is pretty much the signature thing with any seth macfarlane cartoon. They do fit in quite well and usually start with the whole "like the time when..." etc etc. What I really don't miss from the older series is the poor sound quality and voice acting. A lot of the voices sounded very similar and were usually seth macfarlane doing them all by himself. He still does three out of the six main characters in the family. Newer seasons have very different voices though.
A lot of the settings take place in the griffin house and usually have a storyline surrounding the family but often we see other less well known characters come in during the episodes. I have to commend the show on getting a very large number of A-List celebrity guests on over the years using their real voice like the KISS band including gene Simmons who appears numerous times in a lot of episodes, Tom Hanks and James Woods who turns out to be a nasty piece of work (in Family Guy, not real life of course) So this has really made me think actually, things like that really keep me interested in the show.
Family guy is for mature audience and with constant sexual and adult references even though it has a 15 or 12 certificate on many seasons, mean that children of this age wont understand. They can watch it but they wont find most of it at all funny.
Family Guy is most likely the funniest and best comedy-show I've ever seen, the jokes seen in Family Guy never gets old!
I've watched this show a lot in my time, and I love the irrelevant weird conversations they have, the stupidity and the funny celebrity thing they have going on! It just cracks me and everyone I know up,
Peter Griffin: The dumb, funny, and stupid person in the show, loves to hang out with Cleveland, Quagmire, and joe at the local bar, drinking beer.
Chris Griffin: The son of Louis and Peter. Like hes dad he lacks common sense, but who doesn't like a few dumb people?
Louis Griffin: Wife of Peter, and Mother to Meg, Stewie and Chris - Louis is the only normal person in the family, who tries to do right, everytime Peter does wrong. Often it is not succesed.
Stewie Griffin; The little adorable, but evil son.. who continuesly tries to get rid of Louis, but it's never succesed, this also might be the smartest baby ever seen, (Little Einstein).
Meg Griffin; the daughter that everyone hates, and blames for everything bad that has ever happened, with absolutely no purpose in life.
Brian; The smart and intelligent dog that lives with the Griffins, that is also secretly in love with Louis Griffin.
Family Guy, when the jokes work, they can be very funny indeed.
Family Guy follows a far from normal family, a retarded father, Peter Griffin, who has no respect for anyone apart from his friends, who is also very funny in the later episodes, Lois Griffin, the housewife, the smart one, who learns to put up with Peter's mischievous ways, Chris Griffin, the eldest son, who is just like his father, stupid but funny, Meg Griffin, the forgotten about Teenage daughter with a "flat chest and a fat ass" who is bullied at school, Brian Griffin, the talking dog, who believes he is a great author, when actually, he is rubbish, and the best character of all, Stewie, the young baby with an english accent, focused on ruling the world. :P
Peter's friends, Glen Quagmire, the sex pervert, Cleveland Brown, the slow taking black guy, and Joe Swanson, the Paraplegic cop who is constantly mocked by Peter and the others. There common hangout is The Clam, a bar in town where the gang usually discuss what is happening in Quahog and what they are going to do about it. Which leads to The A story of the episode.
The B story of each episode usually has something to do with one of the other family members, more commonly Brian and Meg, and Brian will try to get his novel sold, or to get his human girlfriends to take him back, or Meg trying hard not to get bullied at school by the jocks.
People who are offended easily best not watch the show, as some of the jokes are really quite dark and some poke fun of celebrity stories. Personally though, I find them hilarious.
As a fan of animated comedy ever since I first saw the simpsons I remember being at school and looking forward to watching the new animated cartoon called family guy.
The first episode I saw was the one where the kool aid jug burst through the wall of a court and simply went "Oh Yeah"!!! Ever since that first episode I have been hooked, although the latest series has been a complete disaster in my opinion. It's like the director (Seth Mcfarlane) had just given up or had been forced to continue the show against his will. One episode features a segment where country and western star conway twitty sings for literally about a third of an episode, while it was funny for a bit it soon became annoying then eventually went into being ridiculous.
To date there have been 8 series and a movie, I think they should have stopped after series 6 or 7 at the latest, luckily though the movie is fantastic.
The cartoon revolves around the lives of the Griffin family, that is Lois the mum, Peter the dad, chris the son, meg the hated daughter and the stars of the show Brian the dog and baby Stewie. Brian and Stewie are somewhat of a double act and definately turn the show from being good to great. The family live in Quahog and have a few friends such as Quagmire a sex pest pilot, Cleveland (who now has his own show) and the wheelchair bound cop Joe Swanson.
A lot of the comedy comes from absurd memories of weird events, Peter will often say something like "it's like the time I...." or "remember when..."
this gives the team of creators license to alot of situations that wouldn't be possible otherwise. Pretty much any random thought can be put into the show with a brief set up "Remember when".
When family guy was good (i.e before series 7) it was incredibly good, but series 7 and 8 are so bad they're almost insulting, the magic has clearly gone.
I hope they don't do a ninth series it would be such a shame to subject a once classic programme to even more humiliation than it has already had to endure.
5 Out of 5 for pre series 7, 1 out of 5 for post series 6
Family Guy is a cleverly animated series that focuses on the Griffin family, consisting of Peter, Lois, Meg, Chris, Stewie and their dog Brian, along with their other friends in the neighbourhood, namely Joe Swanson and his perpetually pregnant wife Bonnie, Cleveland Brown and his wife Loretta (before he" left" to get his own show and she died...) and their sex mad friend Quagmire.
*Characters and Voices*
Seth Macfarlane is the creator of the show and is known to do many of the voices, such as Peter Brian and Stewie as well as peripheral characters such as Quagmire, Lois' father Mr Pewterschmidt and the news anchor Tom Tucker. Personally I think this man is a genius, the voices he has come up with for these characters are seemingly spot on to what you would imagine them sounding like and the storylines that he has developed for all of the characters of the show are daring and hilarious.
Alex Borstein is the voice to Lois, Barbara Pewterschmidt (Lois' mother), Tricia Takanawa the news reporter and Loretta Brown. She has a very typical nasally voice that she applies to most of her characters that makes her distinctive in her voices. It is obvious that Lois and her mother have similar voices, which are simply separated by a slight age in the tone as well as the pitch in which it is delivered.
Seth Green (of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame) is the voice of Chris Griffin and Neil Goldman, the Jewish drug store owner. As Seth Green is quite famous in his own right it is a clever move to voice characters in what is probably one of the greatest animated series of all time as it boosts his star power a little more. I think he has picked the perfect voice for the character of Chris as it is seemingly a mix between Peter and Lois, emphasising his position as their son.
Meg was originally voiced by Lacey Chabert of Mean Girls fame but she had to leave the show due to scheduling conflicts and was never credited for her work on the first season. She was instead replaced by Mila Kunis (That 70s Show). I think that although this was due to scheduling conflicts it worked in Seth Macfarlane's favour as Mila has quite a recognisable voice as well as face so again gave the show some star power before it got off the ground.
Most of the other peripheral characters are played by Mike Henry, who is able to diversify his voice to fit into different roles and characters quite easily. It is almost impossible to tell that he is the voice of Cleveland as well as Herbert, as Cleveland has such a deep and soulful voice in comparison to the high pitched whistle that escapes whenever Herbert talks.
In addition, other recognisable individuals have been brought in to give voices, such as Jennifer Tilly as Bonnie Swanson, Patrick Warburton as Joe Swanson, Adam West as...well...Mayor Adam West and many others (too many to list here!).
Personally I absolutely love this show as it has the right amount of one liners and comical moments that are scattered throughout inspiring and downright hilarious storylines for each episode. No two episodes are ever the same but they occasionally try to bring some humility to the characters and get across a message or two across to the audience. I love that the storylines feature most of the characters as they are colourful and diverse and are written so that they bounce off of each other and provide plenty of laughs along the way.
My favourite character has to be Stewie as I find his plans, antics and attempts to kill Lois to be hilarious and he has some of the best one liners through the whole 7 (nearly 8 in America) seasons, as well as his strange British accent as it makes some of the things he says much more cutting and witty. His odd friendship with Brian is heart warming and you can tell that secretly they both need to rely on the other to survive in their crazy household.
Another one of the better characters is definitely Peter, as his slapstick and almost outrageous moments are in a league of their own and most of the times he tries, his schemes tend to go wrong, with both fantastic and horrifying results. In nearly every episode he tends to hurt himself or create a problem with his own stupidity, which he has to solve in order to dampen the consequences.
Family Guy was definitely one of the first of its kind and continues to remain unique and full of comedy.
Family Guy is an American animated TV series, aimed at adults, currenly shown on BBC Three - the new series has just started and there are often repeats shown. Much like the Simpsons, it centres around a dysfunctional family - the Griffins. Dad Peter is fat, stupid and often gets into scrapes, Lois, his wife, is rather long-suffering but puts up with him. They have three children, Chris, also fat and stupid, Meg, who everyone dislikes and is mercilessly picked on for being 'ugly' and baby Stewie, who is randomly British (yes, he tallks) and is plotting to kill Lois and take over the world. They also have a talking dog, Brian, a wannabe intellectual with a driknign habit. There's also a plethora of other chracter, even including a local paedophile. So, not quite like the Simpsons!
Each episode is about 20 minutes long and usually contains flashbacks and often includes musical numbers. It usually contains moments of pure surrealism.
It can often centre around Peter's latest idiocy and often around the friendship between Stewie and Brian (despite appearances that they hate each other, they are best buds) - for example last night's first episode showed the pair taking a trip around alternate universes - including one where dogs kept pet humans. They are easily my favourite characters, especially Stewie, there's nothing like a sexually confused, sarcastic baby!
I really enjoy this show, it's certainly a bit random and quite often controversial (well, if you're a Daily Mail reader, it is, I'm sure most people would not find it that offensive!) and I think aimed at the 16-35 age group and probably best enjoyed by them.
This is not a show for children or a show that children enjoy and adults can appreciate the humour - it really is for adults! It does show violent scenes and swearing.
It's a great show, well worth watching.
There's also a new spin-off, The Cleveland Show, on E4.
PS The bird is the word!
Family Guy, Just your typical American family...
I love animation shows, but I only had one true love and that was The Simpsons, but suppose it was time to move on and luckily I founded Family Guy. Another show about a great all American disturbed but funny family!
Family Guy is about the family Griffin, with Peter as the husband and Lois as his wife. They got three children Meg, Chris and baby Stewie. It's your typical American family only they are quiet crazy and especially Peter is the craziest one. He loves to joke around and there seems no limit. In one episode he buys a tank and in another one he buys a spaceship or gets a monkey. His wife Lois isn't that innocent either with a sleazy past and gets quiet flirtiest when she has a drink. When you look at their children it doesn't really get that much better. Meg is the oldest but nobody likes her. She's a typical teenage girl with a lot of doubts about herself, but just really wants to fit in. Sometimes that doesn't always goes so well and even in one episode she has to go to jail and returns as a violent lesbian with a gun. Normally she's the quieter one and just really wants to fit in. Chris is the teenager who's more stupid than his father, which is something difficult to believe, but is very funny to watch at. My favourite character is Stewie, the baby that can talk but not everybody can always hear him speaking. He's the most intelligent one and is always planning to kill Lois to be finally free and also to rule over the world. Although it's never openly said he is a little gay, which is dead funny. The family also got a dog called Brian, who is more like a normal human only he looks like a dog. He eats at the table, drives a car and is planning on publishing a book. So like I said your normal American family.
Of course you also got some friends of the family and then more friends of Peter. Cleveland Brown (who know has his own show) is the black guy with soul, but speaks very slow and is more relaxed. Then you got Quagmire who's a bachelor and a sex addict who want desperately to be with Lois and last but not least you got the paralyzed Joe, who's also a cop and with a lot of built anger inside.
Each episode follows the family in their daily lives. Normally Peter has one of his wonderful ideas or Stewie is planning to kill Lois. In every episode there's a feature where one of the family members have some kind of flashback, for example that Peter was President. These little flashbacks are often the funniest scenes of the show, because you are just ridiculous.
I really like family guy as it goes further than Then Simpsons with its humour. It's a little more adult humour and more violent and it just pushing the borders a little more like South Park. I do think Family Guy is more out there, humour wise, where as The Simpsons also makes adult jokes, but is more hiding, which makes it also suitable for children to watch. I wouldn't recommend children to watch Family guy, because I don't think sometimes it goes a little bit too far for children.
Overall it's really an easy but very funny show to watch and characters that you will love. Peter is a stupid foolish man who doesn't appreciate sometimes enough what he got, but you forgive him because he's sometimes just too stupid to understand. Lois is the perfect little housewife who just really just wants to let go of herself. But my funniest character is Stewie with his sharp remarks and his plans to kill Lois. He's really funny to watch and really makes this show.
Family Guy is another example of the excellent adult animated comedy TV series that American writers are able to churn out, while it is not quite in the class of The Simpsons or South Park it is still a very entertaining show to watch as it is very funny and with some great satirical lines in it.
The show is directed by Seth MacFarlane and he provides many of the characters voices as well. The main character is a rotund father called Peter Griffin who in the style of Homer Simpson is not the brightest tool in the box but he does not have the same lovable childish innocence that Homer has which is why he is not such a likeable character. He has an understanding wife by the name of Lois who is voiced by Alex Borstein and three children. The most popular of these in terms of a character is Stewie who is a baby but actually is the most mature and cynical of the lot and is voiced with a snobby east coast accent by MacFarlane, the other kids are fat stupid Chris voiced by Seth Green and rather pompous daughter Meg who is voiced by Mila Kunis. The final member of the family is Brian the dog, another MacFarlane voice and the only one who communicates with Stewie and the two have a strange relationship.
This can be a very funny show but it sometimes suffers from consistency problems, also while there are lots of other characters they lack the depth that shows like the Simpsons have in the range of characters. There has already been a spin off from the cartoon with character Cleveland getting his own series.
What I do like is that the humour is quite adult in places, Stewie has homicidal tendencies towards his mother for no obvious reason and the episodes can sometimes take a rather surreal twist to them which I find always makes them more interesting and entertaining.
This comedy is certainly worth checking out and you do have to give it two or three episodes to get into it.
Family Guy is like a mix between The Simpsons and other animated comedies like South Park. It started on Channel Four and was on quite early but then they realised it was quite rude and put it back to about 11 pm.
It is very similar to the Simpsons and I feel that it is a bit of a rip off of the Simpsons but it is ruder. I think some episodes of Family Guy are fantastic but some are quite poor which is why I have only watched a few episodes. It features the American family with the stupid dad (Peter Griffin) who is the main character and is always creating trouble and getting into a mess. His wife Louis is better than him but still stays with him even though he creates some horrible problems.
They have three children and my favourite has to be Stewy. Stewy is the baby but he is really rather cunning and clever and for some reason wants to kill his mum! He is really funny and a great character. Meg the girl is completely ignored by everyone as no one likes here and Chris is basically as stupid as his dad.
Brian is also a good character and is the dog and the only one who can hear what Stewy is saying! Brian can also talk but is probably one of the cleverest in the family.
The show is a bit strange as sometimes it is really good and better than the Simpsons e.t.c. and then another episode is quite poor. I do think of it as a Simpsons copycat but it is much ruder and can be funnier occasionally. Sometimes it is a bit random and something completely off topic happens or appears.
Still it is a good show and I would recommend it!

The Family Guy.
Im pretty much a virgin where this show is concerned, I have not watched all the seasons, but have watched the last 18 shows, showing on BBC3 so feel I can now make a valid review on what I think of the show.
About the show ...
Family guy follows the ups and downs of Peter Griffin and his poor family that have to endure him,
And his hilarious antics, Poor Lois is the poor wife that has come a long way in life and is close to the mother of all break downs, (who would not be married to Peter) but she goes on coping even though her father would be pay for any top lawyer at the drop of a hat to get her out of her marriage.
Meg is the daughter, she is the but of the most jokes that involve a punch this poor girl has to put up with her dad botty burping in her face at any given oppertunity and insulting her where he can, but dispite it all she shines as the brains of the family and I am sure when her chance comes she will escape the bosom of her family for pastures new.
Then you have Chris the teenage son who has no idea about life, girls or social skills but has a passion of fear surrounding the evil monkey hiding in his wardrobe!! sounds strange I know but seeing is believing!!
Then there is Stewie, a baby with attitude, one that is funny and also confusing , as he seems to be the only baby on earth at such a young age confused about his sexuality!
And no family would be complete without a pet and the Griffins family pet is strange, not that it is a dog , it is after all not uncommon for a family to own a pet dog but the Griffins family pet is strange in the sense it talks , Not in the barking sense but in the human sense, as i said i am fairly new to this programme and have missed a few seasons so have no idea how the dog manages to talk , but it does bring humour to the show.
The show as I said is based around Peter, and not only do you get to see the havoc within the griffin house hold with the family members but you also have Peter's friends too, Cleveland Brown , he seems to move and speak at a slower pace than a snail , Then there is Quagmire, who is like a dog on heat and will hump anything that moves , he is the reason STD's exsist, then you have poor old Joe Swanson who is a parapaligic, he is strong and I may be wrong but may have been in the army as he seems to live a regimented life.
There is also other characters that make the odd appearance and some on a regular basis but will not go in to them all as i would never end this, and now and again they have special guests. A recent episode i watched had Drew Barrymore in it, not her as a person but her voicing a character.
Overall my thoughts on the show, are one that i can relate to, The things Peter gets up to is like watching my partner on screen in a cartoon form, The show will have you laughing out loud and screaming " that is so true " And im sure we have all looked at our pets and thought , "if they could only talk what would they say" , It is also good to see a baby on screen like Stewie that does something other than suck a dummy ,,,,, (move over Maggie from the Simpsons) Stewie is a super charcter and when I start to watch the show im always on the edge wating for the faux pas from Stewie.
Lois is one character that I adore , she puts up with so much from Peter , And i admire her for that as i would of proberbly killed him by now.
The programme is a great way to relax and i always ensure it is something I tend to watch before i turn in for the night , and I have to say since watching this last thing on a night time I have not suffered any nightmares.
The prigramme can be caught on BBC3 at 11.30pm or alternativly you can buy the series on DVD from amazon and i am currently considering buying the whole box set for £119. It is one DVD set I am sure I would get hours of enjoyment out of as it is one that can be watched over and over again
** Family Guy **
Since the early 90s and Beavis and Buthead /Ren and Stimpy adult humour cartoons have been growing in popularity. I loved them all even the obnoxious South Park. But of course The Simpsons redefined the genre for all other cartoons.
Admittedly The Simpsons was child humour as well as adult humour but it affected and influenced modern cartoons as well as creating a host imitators and pretenders to the Throne.
The Simpsons influenced cartoon comedys all share the same basic format. A dysfunctional family with an oafish but lovable (as a comedy character) father as the head of the family.
Without doubt the best of The Simpsons pretenders is Family Guy. Family Guy was created by Seth MacFarlane. He also provides some of the characters voices too; Stewie the monstrous matricidal infant is voiced by Seth.
The basic premise is simple enough. The Simpson family -sorry The Griffin family is made up of the impetuous father Peter, mother with a sleazy past Lois, unliked daughter Meg, stupid son Chris, Stewie the talking evil toddler with a rugby ball shaped head and talking middle class American dog Brian.
Each episode sees the Griffins clashing personalities working off one another to humorous effect with the plot as something of a side line. This is just as well as the plots are usually lifted straight from episodes of The Simpsons.
A feature of Family Guy are the short little surreal flashbacks. These often prove the funniest sections of the episodes, though they are completely unrelated to the overall plot. For instance in the middle of one episode Griffin father Peter goes into an extended fight sequence with a giant chicken for no good reason. Silly yes but also very funny.
Family Guy plunges to depths of blatant adult humour that The Simpsons can't or at least won't do because of it retaining both a child and adult appeal. That's not to say Family Guy is better written than the Simpsons. It isn't. The Simpsons manages to inject some very rude adult humour but it is concealed so cleverly that it couldn't offend children and their parents.
Family Guy is still great though and well worth watching. Like The Simpsons it has a range of supporting characters often with one line catch phrases that are used to good effect. I especially enjoyed Family Guy's reworking of Star Wars in the Blue Harvest extended episode.
The humour is cutting, often rude and sharp and not for the easily offended. But it is a great series though not quite in the same league as it's main influence; Homer, Bart and co.
Thanks for reading my review.
When Family Guy first burst onto our screens, it came at the height of The Simpsons empire and immediately appealed to the adult population who were warming to the cartoon genre.
Family Guy, created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Network, follows the life of Peter Griffin and his dysfunctional family: wife Lois, children Meg, Chris and baby Stewie (the one with the American football shaped head) and talking dog Brian.
Set in the state of Rhode Island, where MacFarlane himself studied, this show is a hilarious account of family life, albeit somewhat unconventional.
Peter Griffin - Peter is your typical well intentioned but often ineffective father, who doesn't take much interest in his kids (although there are some touching moments when he realises the virtues of family life), expects his wife to do everything for him and is partial to the odd beer or ten.
Lois Griffin - Peters doting wife who is a stay at home mum and piano teacher who turned her back on her wealthy upbringing to marry Peter, much to the chagrin of her family.
Meg Griffin - the oldest of the clan and the butt of many jokes. Meg is often teased for being fat and ugly and there are some hilarious moments when she loses the plot in typical teenage style.
Chris Griffin - Chris is the middle child and is your average bumbling teenager who idolises his Dad but whose stupidity lands him in some strange situations.
Stewie Griffin - the highlight of the show (especially the scenes with Brian) Stewie is the baby of the family with a hilarious upper-class English accent and homicidal tendencies towards his mother.
Brian - Brian is the Griffins smoking, talking, martini drinking pet dog whose interactions with Stewie are some of the best moments of the show.
Be warned, this is an adult show, with provocative and often controversial jokes. Family Guy takes no prisoners and anyone, and I mean anyone, can be the butt of their jokes. It may have piggy backed on the success of the Simpsons, but it pushes the envelope in a different way and takes all the jokes that one step further.
It uses all the tricks of the trade, cut away scenes, flashback and even throws in moments of pure surrealism, including the crazy monkey hiding in Chris's wardrobe and Peters fight scenes with the giant chicken. What also adds to this show is the community of friends and neighbours around the Griffins including Quagmire, the local nymphomaniac and the hilarious Mayor Adam West, played in fact by Adam West.
The show has also spawned some excellent merchandise including the Brian bottle opener and numerous bobble heads.
Don't let this commercialism put you off however as this is a laugh out loud show and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something to unashamedly tickle your funny bone.
Family Guy is an animation created by Seth Macfarlane who also does some of the main voices for the show.
Its about a family called the Griffins. Within the family are:
Peter griffin- This is one the main characters and to my he is the funniest. He is the dad in the show and comes out with some of the most funnyest things, even his actions and expressions will have you laughing your head off.
Louis- This is the mother of the family and Peters wife. She is the more sensible parent but does have her moments.
Chris- Hes peters son. Hes not as stupid as his dad but does some stupid things in the series.
Meg- This is Peters daughter. She is the unpopular kid at school but just wants to fit in with everyone else. Even her own dad takes fun out of her.
Stewie- He is a one year old baby but talks with an adults voice. He is very smart and wants to take over the world but at the same time also trys to kill Louis alot.
Brian- He is the families talking dog who is also smart. He enjoys things like reading.
This show went off air in 2001 but came back in 2004 and is getting bigger and more popular as time goes on.
This cartoon is very funny and will have you laughing alot. There are jokes and funny scenes which you would laugh at every time no matter how many times you have seen it. This would be most suitable for the teenage and adult audience.
Family Guy TV Series
Apart from the Simpsons, Family guy is one of my best animated series on TV.
Family guy has so many comedy moments mainly adult comedy so not a cartoon to let the kids watch but every character is very funny in their own way
First off we have Peter Griffin the father and one of the main characters in the series who is one of the finniest characters in the series.
He is rather stupid and comes out with the dumbest things you can imagine which make me cry with laughter.
Lois is the red headed wife of Peter who is more down to earth and the clever one in the family although at times she can get just as stupid as Peter.
Unlike peter she is not as funny as the rest of the main characters but you still get a few laughs from her from time to time.
Stewie Griffin is the talking baby who I think is the funniest character in the show with almost everything he says making me laugh.
He has big plans for world domination and tries to make weapons to take over the world and also kill his mother Lois.
Meg is the daughter and a young teen of Peter and Lois.
She always tries to get a boyfriend and fails and is very self conscious about how she looks.
She is somewhat funny but like Lois is only funny at certain times.
Chris is the dumb son and he is very funny, I really like this character you don't see him as often as Stewie, Peter and Lois but when you do see him he will have you laughing.
The dog Brian is also a very good character in the show and the cleverest one of the lot. For a talking dog he is always the one with the answers and who the rest go to for help.
He is also funny but he is a more serious character.
And finally for the main characters we have the friends of the family called Quag-mire, Cleveland and Joe.
Quag-mire is the horny friend always looking to hook up with some chick.
Cleveland who now has his own show called the Cleveland show is the black guy who is very funny and a great character.
Joe is wheelchair bound and has some great storylines in the show and is also a cop.
So that's the basics about the main characters you will see and what great characters they are. Am sure if you have watched this show you will know what I am talking about, they are all extremely funny and every episode you watch will have you giggling with laughter.
The only downside to this show is it is now being repeated many times on TV mainly on BBC Three.
This is a good thing for those who haven't seen it yet but like me I have saw almost every episode and watching them 3 or 4 times it does lose some of the humour but even after watching it many times there is still a lot of laughs in there.
As I said at the beginning of the review it is more of an adult comedy as there is swearing but it does contain very little if any nudity.
Overall because of the amount I laugh at this show I give it a 4/5, it would be a 5 if I wasn't watching repeats all the time but apart from that it's an amazing show.
Family Guy is an American television cartoon style comedy show much in the same style of The Simpsons but it seems to a bit more adult centred with their jokes and themes used. It makes fun of American culture alot and has plenty of reference to it , all of which may not be understandble especially with the number of jokes and the speed at which they are sometimes delivered.
The show was originally broadcast in 1999 and currently has had 8 series with a total of 137 episodes. The show is focused on a socially awkward and dysfunctional family who live in the made up town of Quahog, Rhode Island. The family consists of the father Peter Griffin, his wife Lois ad their children Meg , Lewis and Stewie. They also have a dog called Brian who acts more like a human then a dog. Stewart Gilligan Griffin (Stewie) is also a baby who has plans on world domination and has exceptional knowledge for his age and he also has an English accent unlike the other characters in the family.
Seth MacFarlane was the creator of the show and he also voices three main characters which are Peter, Brian and Stewie. The other voice artists names I am not familiar with but they are very good. I just found out that Mila Kunis voices Meg, the awkward teenager who just wants to fit in. In real life she is actually quite attractive and starred in Forgetting Sarah Marshall with Russell Brand.
Overall the show is funny and I do like watching it. I am not the biggest fan and don't watch it all the time but it is enjoyable when I do. The show isn't really meant to be watched by kids or young teens as the content is quite grown up even though it is a cartoon. It can also be quite unpredictable and generally just random but that is also part of it's appeal. The dog Brian and Stewie are the most intelligent and knowledgeable members of the family and Stewie is definitely like many my favourite character. He seems to be the real star of the show and the lines and phrases he comes out with are hilarious. Some people may not like the lack of real direction in the story sometimes of the episodes and it can be a show that polarises opinion but I guess you have to watch yourself if you haven't already to find out what you think of it. I think overall it is very good and funny so 4/5 stars.
Some Stewie quotes:
"Damn you, vile woman! You've impeded my work since the day I escaped from your wretched womb."
"Am I to spend the entire day wallowing around in my own feces? A little service here."
"Victory is mine!"
"You know, I rather like this God fellow. Very theatrical, you know. Petulence here, a plague there. Omnipotence... gotta get me some of that."
Lois Griffin: Come on Stewie, don't be afraid. It's just water, it's not gonna bite.
Stewie Griffin: Shut up! I know it's not going to bite, stupid! What a stupid thing to say. You drown in it you m***n! It doesn't have to bite you!
"Do these huggies make my a** look big?"
MacFarlane voices many of the characters (Peter, Brian, Stewie, Glenn Quagmire, Tom Tucker, and others). Other voice actors include Mila Kunis (Meg Griffin), Seth Green (Chris Griffin), Alex Borstein (Lois, Tricia Takanawa, Loretta Brown), Mike Henry (Cleveland, Cleveland Jr, Herbert, and Greased-up Deaf Guy), Patrick Warburton (Joe Swanson), and Lori Alan (Diane Simmons). Lacey Chabert voiced Meg Griffin for the first production season (15 episodes); however, because of a contractual agreement, she was never credited.
