I wasn't really a fan of the first series. I don't think I understood it well enough to think it was funny. I didn't watch it often, and when I did I probably didn't watch an entire episode.

The second series came along and I paid it more attention because there was nothing else on. It was then that I realised the brilliance of the series. The Fast Show is very funny, most of its jokes are long-running themes which may explain why it is a little difficult to get into. But it's very funny.

Some of the characters are very well thought up and are grandiose versions of someone that we all know. Personally, I can't watch Colin Hunt because I know somebody just like him and I find it too irritating to watch. That a TV show can make me cringe like this must mean it is powerful stuff.

Not everybody's cup of tea, but it is very cleve and very funny. Fans of Harry Enfield will enjoy it as it is similar but more grown up.
