Advantages: opens our eyes at other problems relating to weight

Disadvantages: you'd have to ask overweight people if they are offended?

I love it!

I'm not particularly overweight, although I would like to lose about a stone especially having just had a baby. I think it's great that not only does this programme cover the overweight issue but it covers all the other issues that come with being overweight.

My sister is very overweight and it causes her great distress,I've even been to classes with her to encourage her.

Many people who are overweight give the impression that they are happy go lucky, but knowing how my sister feels, it's the opposite. Many are depressed, lonely, desperate to be liked or to fit in. Where did we get the ability to look down our noses at fat people? Is it inbred in us or has society made us that way?

This programme has brilliantly portrayed the anxieties involved for these people, but in a light humoured way so as not to offend. It's a fine line and they have managed it really well.

Many 'fatter' people take overdoses, my sister called me after she took hers. I asked her why and she said she felt that people didn't like her because of her weight. But I've known her all my life and I think she is funny, mischievious, bad tempered, sharp tongued, emotional, passionate.......that means she normal like the rest of us doesn't it!!!

The characters in this programme have shown the public how we react to people just like them and I hope it makes some of us think about what we say, how we sneer at them and how it's easy to become just like them. Many people go through difficult times in their lives and eating is a comfort to many of us. I go off food when I am worried but I could easily be the other way.

I hope they make another series, they have certainly got my thumbs up! Well done

I love this program too. I feel really sorry for your sister its a shame that society can make people feel so low just because they aren't quite the same, it's petty and narrow minded. Someone's weight isn't the main issue, it's the person underneath that counts. I've always been very slim til I put on 4.5 stone while pregnant, then I lost it all again - but I did feel "fat" for a while and as soon as I lost it everyone said "you've done well to lose all that weight"! Society shouldn't pressure new mums to be stick thin or anyone else for that matter. I hope your sister is OK.
