Fifth Gear

Fifth Gear is considered, by today's watching public, to be like a poor man's Top Gear. The latter show is definitely considered as the main forerunner, with its appealing and better known presenters. However, it's all too easy to overlook Fifth Gear, which provides a more inclusive look at various models of cars, and employs more traditional methods of testing the cars out. Essentially, it does the same thing Top Gear does. It showcases affordable cars and compares them with others, showing how they're worth getting, and what their positive and negative points are. Well if you ask me this is certainly no Top Gear. The presenters of the show are really poor in my opinion they give very little if any relevant information to the car enthusiast. They may well provide accurate information about bluetooth headsets and which is the best but who cares? Not mw that's for sure. The whole of fifth gear seems to have copied the style of Top gear. They really have mucked it up a bit as well. The presenters provide very little humour to the show and i cannot belive that it is till on the television. Fifth Gear is Top Gears main challenger when it comes to Car Reviews. Though Fifth gear lacks the obscene amount of funding which goes into the BBC, and doesn't get aired in the 20+ countries Top Gear does, the bit I like about this show is that it, on occasion, reviews 'Real cars'. The other week they did a feature on the Mk2 Golf GTi 16v. A truly awesome car! I just WISH Top Gear did a similar feature on all the old cars like the 205 GTi, Golf GTi mk1 etc. The competitions are also crazy; you can usually win the car they have as the main feature so it's always worth entering for the £1 it costs! Fifth Gear was created by Channel Five when the BBC canned Top Gear in 2001, some of the presenters from the show including Tiff Needell and Vicki Butler Henderson moved over to Channel Five to form the show you know and love.
