Background The Flintstones was the first animated sitcom made for adults in America with lots of canned laughter. which makes sense now that I think about it as I never enjoyed watching it as a child but appreciate the wordplay and actually find it quite palatable now a days. Originally aired in America in 1960 it was produced by Hannah Barbera the same group which produced other classic cartoons such as scooby doo, the Jetsons and yogi bear. The set The show is set in a place called bedrock which is a comical prehistoric version of a typical American town. This town has dinosaurs talking animal kitchen equipment and characters walking ... Read the complete review

This tv programme is a classic of cartoon style, both with numerous tv shows and also a few films! It is a hit both with children and adults alike. It focuses on two working class families in the stone ages, the Flintstones, and the Rubbles and their lives in Bedrock. It aired during the 1960's and it is still a show people continue to watch today. Fred Flinstone and Barney Rubble along with their wives, are the main focus of the show. Each of them have children, and also the famous Dino! One thing I have noticed throughout watching the shows is the use of animals for technology. One of the funniest was the time that there was a pig for the waste ... Read the complete review

The Flintstones is a wonderful kids' TV show that is a timeless classic from the 1960s. The concept is very original and clever, and the delivery onto our screens, with the effect of a live studio audience, makes it feel homely and more 'live' than other shows. The Flintstones takes a normal average working family and their friends and neighbours, and creates a Stone Age environment for them to live, thus giving us a snippet into what family life might have been like back in the time of the dinosaurs, but with a few clever mod-cons altered to suit the time. Fred Flintstone is the lead character, living with his wife Wilma, and later their daughter ... Read the complete review

Originally airing from 1960-1966, the Flintstones was not conceived as entertainment for children, but was rather aimed squarely at the prime time market. It was indeed family friendly, given the censorship prevalent back in the day, but the themes are on par with more modern live action series family situational comedies. This is indeed what it is...it follows the story of the every day life of working class Fred Flintstone and his wife Wilma (and later baby daughter Pebbles). Poor Fred is a bit of a lovable schmuck. He keeps wanting to get ahead, and to get to go out bowling with his ten pin league along with best buddy and neighbour Barney Rubble, but he always runs ... Read the complete review
