Footballers Wives

Description: ITV drama about the lives of footballers and their wives.

Newest Review: ... no matter how down to earth they seem. Shed productions axed the show due to falling ratings. Each series is only 8-9 episodes long, so its easy to fit in and watch. To me Footballers Wives reminded me of a very trashy tabloid newspaper, showing the scandals both on and off the field. I loved this programme to begin with, however the storylines get stranger and more unbelievable, it is ... more

Premium Review Footballers Wives: Trashy yet compelling (872 words)

Rating:

Footballers Wives was a series that ran for 5 series on itv from 2002 through to 2006, with a spin off for sport relief in 2006. The series focuses on the lives both on and off the field of the players and thier families. The series is set at the fictional Earls Park Fottball club, nick named 'the Sparks'. This is a trashy outrageous series with many unbelieveable plot and sub plot lines. It is glamourous yet has hardly anything to do with football, it is more of a behind the scenes. Series 1 (2002) The first series gives the insight to what life off the field is like for many premier league players. The first series centres around new signing ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Great kitsch! (335 words)

Rating:

Footballers Wives is as near as it gets to so-called back-and-front page tabloid TV. It's not going to win much in the way of gongs for 'serious' drama, but for sheer trash-kitsch-gloss and lowbrow glitterati Gucci, it hits the mark. The plot (such as it is) revolves around the Machiavellian comings and goings of a (presumably) low to mid table Premier League footie club, run and staffed by a motley assortment of megalomaniac, oversexed, underbrained dysfunctional nouveau riche dickwits. Not unlike real life in the Premier League, methinks. None of the characters, with the possible expeption of the shark-like agent-cum-owner Hazel Bailey, has much ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Footballers Wives: Footballer's Wives - Not so much about football though (514 words)

Footballers wives was an ITV show that started in 2002 and ended in 2006 that ran for 5 series. It is based on the lives and families of the players of fictional football club, Earls Park F.C. Footballers Wives was trashy, cheap, sexy and exciting. The series' werent very long, normally consisting of either 8 or 9 episodes. The show really isnt focused on football at all though, its more about sex and scandal. Some of the storylines have been really outragous and have included the likes of murder, voodoo, affairs, babies born with deformaties, and babies being brought up by other people. Footballers Wives is just crazy. If i went through the actual plot of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Footballers Wives - In a league of it's own (224 words)

Footballers Wives is so over the top in every way - what could be better! It's great, I love it. It's the sort of show you would love or hate. I've got them all on box set DVD and I've started watching them again from the beginning. The first series is good and fairly believable, but as the series went on, it just got more and more outrageous, the make up got more fierce and the fake nails got longer, to the point where I was worried that Tanya Turner might actually do some major damage. Footballers Wives is made by the same company that do Bad Girls ( another show that I love ) and it was a stroke of genius when Tanya ( the main footballers wife - ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Footballers Wives: Footballers wifes (75 words)

Rating:

I love footballers wifes. Though I amigine the real footballers wifes dont. Its about a group of footballers who play for a team called Earls Park and there wifes. There wifes get up to all sorts and are blinged up to the nines. They have affairs and spend most of there time scheming and if there not doing that its drugs, spa treatments and facials. It can be similar to a soap though more ...  Read the complete review
