Advantages: Comical show where couples hand over full control of their unplanned wedding to friends and family
Disadvantages: Some of the themes are too wacky and make the show a little tacky.
Continuing on from my previous review the theme is of reality wedding programmes that I watch from time to time when I get control of the remote!
For Better or For Worse is the US version of our BBC Three show Don't tell the bride but with a bit of a difference.
*~*About the Show*~*
For Better or For Worse is a reality show where an engaged couple signs a contract giving their friends and family full control to plan their wedding on a $5000 budget and just one week to set the date and complete the arrangements.
It is presented by Kathleen McClellan who gets to be the person in the middle of the couple and the team planning the big day, offering little clues about the big day as it gets closer.
Once the couple have signed over full control to their selected friends and family, they are kept in the dark about the wedding plans and have absolutely no say about the big day.
A wedding planner is assigned to help the team plan and ensure that nothing is left unorganised.
The team learn to create flower arrangements, wedding favours and even on some occassions cater the wedding breakfast themselves and even bake the wedding cake!
Angie Bloom Hewitt is my favourite wedding planner she seems to combine a traditional wedding ceremony with a more personalised theme specific to the couple that has been discussed with the team, her wedding planning ideas have contained a beach wedding with an hawaiian theme and a bride wearing a white swimsuit to get married in.
Matt O'Doriso is another regular wedding planner that has a more wacky edge on weddings and has previously come up with wedding guests sitting on cushions rather than chairs and a colourful bridal gown.
There are several other wedding planners but the above tend to make many more appearance and tend to produce unique weddings for their team and their couples.
I enjoy watching this programme for the shock factor, mainly because I couldn't let my friends and family plan my wedding I would like to at least have the choice of choosing my own dress and in doing a show like this all of your choices are instantly removed.
Sometimes the show works out for the better as the couple get a wedding planned in a way they would have never dreamed of but on the other hand some of the more extreme planned weddings come back and bite the team in the bum as the bride is reduced to tears.
Summary: Ideal for tips to save money for your wedding and creative ideas.
