Advantages: great guests, good host, funny, topical

Disadvantages: on a bit late

Surely, the best thing that you can do on a Friday evening is to go out with a few friends, go to a good bar and have a few drinks. Well, if you're not spending your Friday night in this way then the second best option is to stay in and tune into the 'Friday Night With Jonathan Ross Show;' it is quite simply superb viewing.

Shown on BBC 1 at 10.35pm, the show hosted by Jonathan Ross features around the interviewing of celebrities who are in the spotlight for one reason or another at the present time; they always have good guests and it can be very funny. Joining Jonathan in the studio are the homosexual band 'four poofs and a piano,' they're a good laugh and always make up litlle jingles about the celebrities on the show.

The thing which I like about the show compared to other talk shows, is that they do discuss and comment on some quite controversial topics - it can be right on the line of what they can just about get away with, but this has always been a feature of Ross and the show itself; it is completely different from Parkinson. It is also interesting the way that they can cut live to the green room, whre the waiting celebrities are. The interviews are beemed to the green room and comments are often made, so sometimes you may get four or five celebrities involved in the discussion. I definitely think it is the pick of Friday night television and the fact that it is repeated over the weekend is a nice tough too.

The only negative thing I can think of about the show is that it is on quite late and if the guests are good then you can end up staying up later than you envisaged. But, I think they start it late on purpose so that people whi have gone out for the night can come back and tune in half way through, that way they get extra precious viewing figures.

Overall, it's a cracking show and lets face it, it's what Jonathan Ross does best. Let's just hope he doesn't have Russell Brand on the show in a hurry otherwise who knows what might happen!

Thanks for reading, feel free to comment.

Enjoyed last weeks show with the fantastic Michael C Hall ('Dexter') on but Ross was practically drooling over the poor guy- get a grip on your man crush and be a pro! x

nice review-i used to like jonathan ross but he gradually got worse towards the female guests and the 'sachs gate' thing really turned me off J Ross- prefer his brother who is more decent.

Well-written review, but Jonathon Ross is an objectionable cretin at the best of times...
