Advantages: High Profile Guests, Jonathan is a good interviewer

Disadvantages: None for me!

I love talk shows. Not only because the people that appear on them are often very talented or interesting and have achieved amazing things, but also because they are questioned on the spot, they do not really have time to prepare for the exact specific questions being asked, and it's interesting to see how such high profile people deal with that. In the UK, "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross" I would say is the big talk show, the equivalent of Jay Leno of Conan in the States perhaps. The other popular hosts such as Paul O Grady are no where near as big.

Jonathan Ross is a wacky character, famous for his scarlet haired spouse and his pet iguana, he is very open minded which I think is a quality that a talk show host really needs to have, because they have to encounter and humour such a diverse range of people. He was recently in trouble for the radio scandal with fellow television personality Russel Brand, and while I do think that the answer phone messages they left were out of order, the public response was far far in excess of what was appropriate, and in general there was a big over reaction to the whole matter in my opinion. I do not think Jonathan Ross is a particularly malicious person, and I watch him and think of him as quite a nice, friendly man. But he is very open minded, and whilst he may not be offended by jokes at his expense, other people are not so tolerant.

The show is based in a colourful and contemporary London studio, and features a live studio audience, as well as an "in house band" - the "Four Poofs and a Piano". This band plays a little clip of a song which they consider appropriate as each guest makes the transition from the green room (kind of like the waiting room) to the actual chair with Jonathan. I suppose this light hearted band do help with the atmosphere on the show, and I am a fan of them.

The guests tend to be very high profile, often Hollywood actors, big time singers and the like. I have watched shows with Tom Cruise, Lady Gaga, Quentin Tarantino (he always seems to be on when I tune in!), Sarah Silverman, Russel Brand, Ricky Gervais, Tom Hanks, Will Smith - the list goes on!

Jonathan is quite good at asking questions which may perhaps be slightly awkward, and making them in to a big joke, which I find really helps with his interviews. He tends to be quite bold with what he asks, and he's always willing to have a go at things, like touch Borat's "Chrum" or handle a snake brought in by Animal Planet host Nigel Marvin. He is always smartly dressed in a constantly changing suit of one colour or another and is famous for his inability to pronounce the letter "R", which sounds more like "W" when he says it.

Overall I have to admit to being a fan, although I often forget to tune in on a Friday night. I do recommend this show as entertaining, interesting and easy to watch.

Summary: What more can I say, I'm a fan!

You can understand why Jonathon Woss was never used to advertise the Rank Organisation! Good review despite the fact he is a nob albeit a rich one.
