Advantages: Ross

Disadvantages: relies on same gags

One of the most enduring sitcoms in TV history. This ran for about ten seasons before they finally called it a day. Here is my brief guide to why I love the show.

Characters:

Ross: Slightly nerdy and loveable, his greasy hair is just hilarious and his hang dog expression always makes one sympathise with him.

Chandler: Witty and quick with many one liners, he can also be irritating when his character is overused in this way.

Joey: Relies on simple humour. Good looking, yet too many jokes rely on his desire to eat all the time.

Phoebe: My fave. Eccentric, crazy, random and most of the stuff she comes out with is so off the wall, it is always a surprise.

Rachel: Pretty and quite dull. She is a bit of an airhead, I find her quite lacking as a character though.

Monica: Obsessive and a bit of a cow, yet with a heart of gold. She is a useful character but again, like Rachel not that funny on her own.

Acting:

The acting is pretty good, no complaints, with all the cast delivering top performances.

Storylines:

A lot of 'will they won't they' romance storylines keep the show ticking along. There should have been a few more location stories in my opinion, where they are taken out of the flats and to new areas. The episodes in Miami for instance, very effective and refreshing.

Music:

Pleasing rousing theme tune, annoying guitar interludes which smack of American sit-com.

Bad langauge:

Kept to a minimum which I approved of, no need for that on prime time televsion.

Verdict:

More fun than Frasier, constantly funny, well written, well acted.

Buy it?

The DVDs are available as box sets or as seasons. The box sets are often in sales, Expect to pay £50 for all ten seasons.

Movie?

It has been hinted a movie version is in the pipeline. This has yet to be confirmed.

Summary: fun

Good review, what were your favourite episodes and what makes you watch it, seems that there could be a lot more to add to this review.
