Friends is the one show that cheers anyone up, no matter what. I have a friend who says that Friends helped him survive his divorce, he watched the show from start to finish on DVD, apparently he was so happy afterwards he forgot about his divorce!!

The show is set in Manhattan and follows six main characters:

Rachel Green - Rachel joins the group in the first episode, she has run away from her arranged wedding and decides to stay in the city with her new friends and become independant . Rachel starts out as the spoiled rich girl who depends on her parents for money and, through the seasons, we see her develop into an independant woman.

Ross Gellar - Ross is a paleantologist, a dinosaur specialist. In the first few series, he is quite depressive and can be very annoying, however, he soon becomes very funny and is now my favourite character! Throughout all 10 series, we see Ross and Rachel's love hate relationship and all hope that they will end up together again!

Monica Gellar - Monica is Ross's younger sister. She is a chef and dreams of owning her own restaurant. Monica has soom kind of obsessive disorder, everything must be clean and organised or it drives her crazy.

Chandler Bing - The clown of the group, Chandler resorts to jokes when he feels awkward. No one seems to know what he does for a living, something with numbers, and he is always helping Joey out with money. He is very sweet and, eventually, we see him marry Monica.

Joey Tribiani - Joey is the womaniser of the group, in 98% of the episodes he sleeps with a different woman. He has a huge appetite and seems to be able to eat without getting full. He is quite stupid and doesn't seem to catch on very easily but he is so loveable!

Pheobe Buffet - Pheobe is the strange one, from the age of 14 she didn't have any family and lived on the streets, trying to make a life for herself. In the first couple of series she lives with her grandmother, until she passes away. Pheobe is a massage therapist but dreams of making it big in music, despite the fact that she cannot sing or play the guitar.

Through the ten series, we see the characters fall in and out of love. We follow them through birth and death, make ups and break ups. We learn so much about the characters and fall in love with them.
The show is hilarious, if you're feeling down at all stick it on and you'll feel great!
