Advantages: quality episodes, good mix of characters, good storylines
Disadvantages: gone a bit stale, only 1 series left
Friends is nearing it's demise. The group aren't 25 anymore and the show is only one series away from finishing. There have been times when Friends has been fantastic; there has been times when it has been like pulling teeth - but I don't think anyone will be genuinely pleased to see the show disappear. Friends has been a revelation and the reason for that, in my opinion, is the fact that it appeals to all types of people, young and old. Popular sitcoms like Frasier have been criticised because they require a certain level of intellect to fully understand and enjoy the show. But Friends solves that problem, with clever use of merchandise to appeal to the younger generation, and as a result, it's popularity grew and audiences spread. There have been many memorable moments in Friends, but they key aspect of the first couple of series was Ross and Rachel's on-off relationship, enough to keep the audience looking forward to the next episode, wondering what will happen. Ultimately, it appears that there will be no fairy-tale ending to their relationship, but this has been replaced by Monica and Chandler's marriage. The characters in Friends are good, each of the six adding a different dimension to the show, and they mix well enough to create a good comedy show, with some very funny moments along the way. Sure, there have been some bad episodes - and I mean bad - but what show can't claim to have had a few bad days at the office? Friends is one of these programs you can watch again and again and still enjoy, and at present, there are approximately six or seven episodes on TV per week. I regularly tune in and watch them and still enjoy them as much as I used to. The standard of the show has been slipping recently, however, and maybe it is best that Friends bows out at the end of the next season, so as to go out on a high and not be remembered as one of those programs which sadly faded away.
>Although it's time may have come, there will still be a great deal of sadness when the Friends finally become disunited as it will take something pretty special to replace this group.
