Fry & Laurie

Newest Review: ... Fry and Hugh Laurie who are both fantastic on their own but together prove to be a comedy due whose genius in my opinion has never been matched and may never be bettered. Fry and Laurie are both supremely intelligent people and this sketch show is a brilliant stage where they can both use the intelligence and high classes they come from to make jokes about those below them but in most of their sketches they in fact use this point as the joke on themselves as well as an obvious excuse to wear womens clother and speak in posh voices. The comedy in this to some may seem dated but I still love the show and watch it and am still amazed at ho... more

A Bit of Fry and Laurie is a brilliant comedy sketch show which is as hilarious today as it was all those years ago when it originally aired. The show features Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie who are both fantastic on their own but together prove to be a comedy due whose genius in my opinion has never been matched and may never be bettered. Fry and Laurie are both supremely intelligent people and this sketch show is a brilliant stage where they can both use the intelligence and high classes they come from to make jokes about those below them but in most of their sketches they in fact use this point as the joke on themselves as well as an obvious excuse to wear womens ...  Read the complete review

Criminally, Fry & Laurie (as a comedy duo, at least) are currently languishing in the world of repeats on Paramount Comedy. Criminally, because A Bit of Fry & Laurie is one of the best sketch shows of the last thirty years. Stephen Fry excels in portraying eloquent eccentrics, and Laurie in playing dimwits and straight men. In that respect, Laurie could be said to have received the rough end of the stick, but both men compliment each other perfectly. Some of the most memorable sketches include 'The Red Hat of Patferrick' - a brilliant spoof of The Twilight Zone, 'Michael Jackson' - in which Stephen Fry (dressed in tweed) is introduced ...  Read the complete review

A bit of Fry and Laurie helps to lighten up the day . As my Title says they are two of the funniest comedians I know, they are naturally gifted,I would have trouble keeping a straight face if I ever met them. Masters of Parody (send up) they are,in the program I watched the other day they did a send up of a song *where is the lid* repeating this sentence over and over again,in operatic fashion. Hugh doing the singing until He nearly drove Stephen Fry mad ,then it was Stephens turn to laugh at Hugh Laurie parodying a memorial program honouring Him after his pretended death,Hugh smiling face kept on appearing on the Tv screen on the pretend program. ...  Read the complete review

Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie are a classic double-act, they have been together, it seems forever, but since have appeared on TV since the 80's. Most of the time, their sense of humour is very dry, but it is very, very funny! They have had a few hit series in their time: - A bit of Fry and Laurie is the most memorable. They centre their show around a "chat show" basis at the beginning, it is difficult to explain, but once you see it, it will make sense! At the end of each show, Hugh laurie plays on the piano, whilst Stephen Fry mixes an original cocktail - and (instead of saying 'Cheers') finish by saying ...  Read the complete review

I am a great fan of Fry and Laurie. They really do make me laugh, which is, of course, what comedy should do. I often used to compare them, mentally, with Smith and Jones; a comparison in which, rightly or wrongly, they always used to come out on top. I don’t know what it was about them, on top of their general humourous ability, which made me like them so much. Still, whatever it was, I definitely recommend watching a few episodes to see if you like them – their humour strikes me as quite intelligent, but accessble to all. ...  Read the complete review
