Advantages: Classic kids TV programme, always good to watch

Disadvantages: Not on TV anymore

When I was a child, growing up in the early 1990s, Fun House was always one of the kids TV programmes that I always looked forward to. It used to be on CITV on Friday afternoons and was presented by Pat Sharp, along with two twins called Melanie and Martina.

The idea of the programme was that there were two teams, with two children in each (usually a boy and girl I seem to remember). Both teams had to compete in three rounds of games, usually involving lots of gunge and requiring lots of running around. The children also had to answer questions to be awarded with extra points.

At the end of the three rounds, a fun kart Grand Prix used to be carried out, where the children would compete in go karts. The team with the most points always had a head start, the length of this determined by their points lead. Whilst going around the course, the children had to pick up tokens on the way, worth either 10 or 25 points each. After each lap, the children had to swap over, competing in three laps in total. The winner of the race was awarded 25 points, and this was added to all of the other token points won, determining the ultimate winner.

The final round was the Fun House itself. The Fun House included lots of obstacles. Some examples of these are climbing nets and having to run through lots of balloons. At the end of every obstacle was a tag with a prize on it. Only one child could be in the Fun House at once, and they had to swap over every so often. The big prize was called the Power Prize. If this tag was picked up, the children would then have to answer a question that has multiple answers at the end of the programme. If they got this correct, then they won the big prize, as well as all of the other prizes that they had already won.

For me, along with Knightmare, this was my favourite kids TV programme. Always fun to watch, would have been great to compete too I bet!

Summary: I think that the kids of today are missing out now this is not on TV anymore
