Advantages: Funny, Made by Matt Groening

Disadvantages: None!

Futurama is a cartoon set in the year 3000. The main character is Fry who is from the 20th century, but accidentally got frozen and woke up 1000 years later. The quality of the cartoon is on the same level as the Simpsons, and was partially created by Matt Groening himself.

Although Futurama's target audience is somewhat smaller than The Simpsons (and was consequently cancelled by Fox, although this was partially due to to their dreadful time scheduling) the jokes are at times allot funnier, and just as clever.

Just like the Simpsons, Matt Groening has managed to create a cartoon that is suitable for just about the whole family, kids will love the funny characters and adults will appreciate some of the adult humour featured. I would say the level of adult humour is higher than the Simpsons but much less than say, Family Guy.

Futurama has formed a cult following and recently released several straight to DVD films, although these were shown on Sky1 in the UK, as separate episodes as well. The box sets of futurama can be found for next to nothing these days, and if you like the humour of the Simpsons, I urge you to give it a chance, you'll probably get hooked. Personally I feel series 3 and 4 was Futurama in it's prime.

Summary: Cartoon as addictive as the Simpsons and just as funny
