Futurama is a show about a bunch of friends in the year 3000. The characters are as follows:

Dr. Zoidberg -(why him first??!!) He is a pink crustacean with a dubious medical background. He is pathetic and a loner, and these characteristics give him a comedy appeal similar to that of Gary Larson's 'Far Side'.
Fry - The main character. Looks like Justin Timberlake before he had a haircut, he is an exageration of a typical comedy guy - lazy, drunk and an idiot. Fancies Leila.
Bender - Robot who likes drink, sex and sitting round watching t.v. His favorite word is 'ass', and his most obvious characteristic is his addiction to stealing - he steals like Homer eats.
Leila - Fry's sort-of girlfriend. She's the purple eyed cyclops who pilots the Planet Express delivery ship around the galaxy.
Amy - Fit martian
Hermes - Beaurocrat
Professor Farnsworth - Fry's great nephew. Really old. Catchphrase - 'Good news everyone (insert bad news)'
Zapp Brannigan - Troy McLure in 3000 year's time. Very vain superhero.
Kif - Zapp's green assistant. Catchphrase - '(sigh)'

Futurama is often similar to The Simpsons, but it changes round the jokes so they seem original to somebody who's seen every Simpsons episode 5 times (thanks a lot BBC2).

It has a huge range os storylines as in the future anyhting can happen, and is very original most of the time. The only bad news is Fox has stopped making it!
