I had heard lots about the TV show Gavin and Stacey but I did not watch it until Christmas. I just do not think it was on at a time I was watching TV. It is pure genius. It is absolutely hilarious and I will definitely be watching it in the future.

Gavin and Stacey are two loved up young people. Neither are particularly bright, which is a good start to any comedy I think. They are struggling in a long distance relationship and in the differences between their families. I am Welsh and really enjoy the Welsh references.

A lot of the comedy comes from the romantic antics of both Gavin and Stacey and their best friends. Relationships have a wealth of opportunity for comedic exploitation. This series makes the most of this fact.

There are lots of very talented actors in this programme and some classic characters. My favourite is the blunt character played by Mervanwi from Little Britain. She is a comedy great!

It is on BBC 1 but I think it started on BBC 3. The move to BBC 1 shows just how popular this series has become. It is worth the popularity. It really is brilliant.

If you have wondered about it and not tried it, give it a go and watch an episode. It is much cleverer and funnier than I imagined.
