Advantages: Kills an hour for me every Tuesday Night!
Disadvantages: Portray's us from the area as a bunch of Fake Muppets!
Geordie is a nickname given to people from the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne area of the North East of England so as you can imagine this series is based around people from that and the surrounding area. They enjoy everything fake: nails, eyelashes, boobs, tans you name it they have it!, getting stupidly drunk and have very questionable moral's.
Initially four male and four female 18 to 21ish year old (I have to say ish as without researching I don't know, but they all look and act like kids so it's a good guess), are all moved into the Geordie shore house, together for four weeks, much like the Big Brother series with the exception that these can leave and rejoin the house if they wish. Now it seems they just come and go as they please and add new members whenever the show gets a little monotonous! They do have a boss called Anna, if you can call her that, who sends them on small jobs such as Male Topless waitering, applying fake tans and handing out flyers but the main bulk of the show is dedicated to Drinking, Partying and to be honest in my opinion a Little porn, at one point 3 couples were all at it in the same bedroom.
There is very little to the show with regards to any story line apart from a kind of love affair between Gaz and Charl where they see how many random people they can pull to make the other jealous, it's pretty much a six episode bed hoping fest for the house mates, if they're not 'Tashing Off' as they call it with each other, then they're out on 'The Pull' taking random strangers back to the house. More than once the girl's haven't known the name of their randomer, never mind the boys and their threesomes. I actually do hate the way they portray themselves as it stereotypes others of their (MY!!!) ages with the same low standards and foul mouths which I find a completely false representation, however I am always curious as to what they will do next. After saying all that I do have to stand up for one house mate, Vicky, who is affectionately know as 'No Banging Vicky', says a lot for the show right? however her mouth is still as foul as the rest of them.
I'm struggling to tell you much else about the show as I fear I would have to give my review an 18 rating in line with the series rating, although I will say that being from Sunderland myself, not too far from Geordie land for those not familiar with the area, I thought this would be something I'd like and downloaded all other series but I'm not sure it's for the right reasons. I kind of want to see just how far these people are willing to go for fame and enjoy knowing that they really do behave as badly as we chant on a derby match day. I still have to say I'd recommend it though as I am glued to it and do talk about it often, in fact my Tuesday nights will be boring after this week when the series ends!
Summary: Bit like marmite in my opinion, you'll either love it or hate it but you'll keep watching.
