Advantages: nostalgic comedy

Disadvantages: none

George & Mildred is one of the most fondly remembered of ITV's comedy. ITV don't make comedy as good as this anymore, mind you comedy isn't there strong point nowadays.

It starred Yootha Joyce as the housewife with aspirations and her slighlty henpecked husband Brian Murphy. He was one of lifes loosers, not much went right for him. Trying to have a quite time he muddled through life keeping his head down.

Their posh neighbours the Fourmiles looked down on them, at least the husband Jeffrey did. His character definitely summed up the stereotyped estate agent, ideas of grandeur in his own self importance. He hated having the Ropers next door to him, with their smokey motorbike, loud wallpaper and bubbling lava lamp.

Some great laughs from this, very dated now but full of fond memories.
