Advantages: Great Humour, wonderful characters
Disadvantages: Not enough episodes made
George and Mildred has to be one of the best ever comedies, and to this day I still regularly enjoy the repeated episodes on (where else?) UK Gold… A great blend of characters, from Poor old Common husband and Wife George and Mildred, upto the snobby neighbours and the rest of the disapproving community, everything about this program screams the word “Funny!” The humour is non-stop and very varied, with all actors and actresses playing an equally impressive role – there is not one weak member of the cast, as they all carry their role incredibly well to make this a very very good comedy that deserved far more media attention and even recognition in the way of awards than it did. It is unlikely that this great comedy will be matched in terms of entertainment, and for me is up there with the all time great of “Only Fools and Horses” and “Fawlty Towers” as the greatest comedies Britain has ever created. While there will not be any new episodes made, I am sure I will continue to watch the repeats for some time yet!

- 15/02/01 I love this programme too! It's a shame it seems to be relatively ignored, it's definitely a classic, as you say! |
