Advantages: Different to a lot of "haunting" style dramas

Disadvantages: May not be scarey enough for some.............

Ceated by John Gray This is an Emmy nominated American thriller style show currnetly in its fourth series.

I stumbled accross this by accident the other night whilst channel hopping in a desperate attempt to find something worth watching and decided to give it a try.

Melinda Gordon is a newlywed living with her husband Jim in the town of Grandview, Ohio. She runs an antique shop with her friend Andrea in season one, After a great season one finale Andrea is replaced by Delia Banks.

Melinda has known from an early age that she can communicate with earthbound spirits - the dead that are unable to move to the spirit world as closure of some sort has not happened with a living person. She mediates between the living and the dead to help enable the spirits to move on - this can be very humourous at times but also a little teary and somewhat spine tingling.

Afraid that people will think she is a freak, Melinda does not let many people know of her gift. Her husband Jim Clancy knows along with Delia and Professor Rick Payne.

The messages she recieves are not always clear and take some investigating - it also takes her a while to convince the living that she is telling them the truth about the departed relative/ friend etc.

This show takes a different style by not just showing spirits crossing over into the light - some cross over to the dark side (linked to hell) where the spirits are in limbo and are exposed to hate and anger. It also shows that some trapped spirits are not lingering above the surface of the ground but trapped in the underneath where the evil spirits stay.

I really enjoyed watching this and am going to hire out the beginning series so I can catch up.
