Advantages: Amazing characters, Great plots, Hiliarious
Disadvantages: NONE!
BBC2 comedy writers have mastered to the challenge of comedy writing. It may come in the section labelled 'un-sophisticated comedy but its still great.' They have achieved the aimed effect in producing Gimme Gimme Gimme. the charcters may seem basic and the plots to but they have been crafted to perfection. Linda (Kathy Burke) is brilliant her dumb, light-hearthed, stupid character is excellently played and in my opinion is the funniest charcter. My particular favourite scene is when linda is really happy and she is running across the road she is greeting everyone she passes with onw of her grotesque smiles and a 'hiya.' One lady has a baby she crouches down to the baby carrier and makes baby noises to the baby she smiles and runs off. She begins to swing her bag round skipping and she smacks the baby in the head and the baby falls to the ground. It may (or may not) sound funny now but it is hilarious on the programme. Tom is the gay actor who deceits himself and convinces himself he isn't a single 24 year old gay who lives with a grotesqly ugly woman (Linda.) His character is also excellent, the fact that he deceits himself pretending he has a amazing acting carrer and one day he's gonna hit it big and that loads of gay men would want to go out with him. Both of these characters are excellent and are so brilliant together so to conclude I recommend it to anyone and everyone. Its excellent and on BBC2 and Uk Gold, check it out!

- 08/07/01 A good op but could do with a read through to make it a little easier to understand. Also, the title is a little OTT: what about 'Seinfeld', 'The Simpsons' or 'Father Ted'? |
