Advantages: Just that little bit different
Disadvantages: Can be a bit too crude
After a rather shaky first episode, the first series of Gimme Gimme Gimme turned out to be excellent. James Dreyfus (Tom)plays a brilliantly funny camp out-of-work actor sharing a flat with the slightly mentally deranged and very vulgar Linda played by Kathy Burke. It's great to see someone like Kathy Burke on telly, who doesn't care what a fool they make of themselves. I think she's hysterical, one of the best comedy actresses around (not to mention an excellent serious actress). Storylines are usually based around Tom looking for an acting job, which if he gets, he will cock up with hysterical consequences and Linda trying desperately to get a shag (with anything!). Tom and Linda often end up fancying the same bloke! (poor git) Although a lot of the humour in this programme relies heavily on vulgarity, I do however think that the current series on BBC1 (instead of BBC2) has gone a bit OTT. Are they trying to prove that BBC1 can be crude too? Every comment seems to be a single entendre and is often failing to be funny. I shall persevere though!

- 22/12/02 A pretty good op, but a bit short! Some more detail on the characters/episodes would have been nice, but apart from that, i have to agree with what you said in your op. :-) |

- 21/11/01 I agree, I used to love it, but this series seems much cruder. |

- 17/11/01 We've all seen it before on the Carry on films, but lets be honest since it moved to Beeb 1 it isn't as funny. I take it this is the last series |
