The premise of 'Gladiators' was that ordinary members of the public had the chance to compete in various games of strength and skill against men and women who were at the peak of their fitness and strength. Obviously they were not just any members of the public, they themselves were fairly strong and fit, and would compete in 5 or so events, accruing points, and the person with the most points at the end would earn a head start over their opponent in the 'Eliminator'. There are TV shows released every now and again that actually stick around and as some might say 'Set the standard' for television viewing. Back in 1992 we were introduced to the hard hitting and action packed show that is Gladiators, I had never seen a show like it before and found my self sat in front of the television every Saturday evening ready to see another episode of the show. In 1992, a new type of Saturday night entertainment show hit our screens: Gladiators. It was a gameshow where the contestants pit themselves against super-athletes (Gladiators) in different events, winning points to turn into seconds, where the contestants go head to head at the end of the show in the Eliminator, with the Gladiators by now spectators.
