Advantages: Light hearted
Disadvantages: Chegwin
GMTV is ITV's breakfast offerring which runs from 7.00 till 9.00 every weekday morning and is a more light hearted informal look at the news when compared with the offerring from the BBC.
The show is divided up into two one hour slots with a different pair of presenters for each one hour slot with each pair being one woman and a man.
The pairings do change but usually the first hour is usually either Penny Smith or Kate Galloway with John Stapleton with the next hour being Andrew Castle with either Fiona Phillips or one of the previous two. There are other presenters as well who fill in but these are the main five.
Now that Eamon Holmes has left there is only really one presenter who I do not like and that is Fiona Phillips who comes across as a bit thick but the others are all pretty good although to be honest the only one who ever asks any demanding questions of the guests is John Stapleton as the rest of the preseners are a bit fluffy at times and rarely challenge their guests even the politicians who must see the how as a pretty soft option compared with shows like newsnight.
Thre are regular features onb fashion, TV and most other entertainemnt features as well as a local news section and theweather. The one thing there is not a lot of is sport coveridge but then in a multi channel world that is covered by specialist channels.
This is the sort of show I have on in the bedroom while I'm getting ready for work s there is the main news to keep you informed and quite a few light hearted features as well. The only other big negative is that every day they run a competition which is presented by Kieth Chegwin who is an annoying fool.
Summary: News and entertainment show.

- 25/01/07 It's awful - the TV equivelent of getting your news from heat. I watch about 5 minutes of BBC breakfast, any longer and I watch part of a film. |

- 25/01/07 Not a show a I watch in the morning more a radio person. |

- 24/01/07 Does it repeat as much as the BBC version - I'm up early with a baby and get frustrated reading the same stuff over and over again. |
