Advantages: Funny, Entertaining, Interesting, Unique
Disadvantages: Liars
Golden Balls is a game show on television, which is broadcast at 5pm and hosted by Jasper Carrott. It's really quite unique and interesting to watch as there are not only large cash prizes involved, but the players must work against each other and together to try and go away with something.
Initially, there are 12 golden balls containing cash amounts from £10 to £75,000 as well as 4 killer balls in the pot. The killer balls are bad as they knock decimal places off the final cash prize and you don't want many in the final round. Each of the 4 players gets 4 golden balls and they must reveal the ones on their front row. They can look at the ones on their back row and then discuss with the other players why they should be taken through. Someone with a killer may not be wanted, but they could have a large cash prize at the back. Others will have good balls at the front but maybe bad at the back, and they would have to lie.
Eventually, the others vote off a player. In the next round, the 3 competitors remaining take through the balls from the previous round. Two cash balls as well as another killer ball are added. This time, the players have 3 balls on their back row and the same happens again. It can be quite interesting and entertaining when the players lie, which is found out later. The show teaches you to judge people better.
In the final round, the players work together to create the cash prize. They take turns in choosing a ball to win and a ball to bin. The ball to win will be added to the cash prize and the ball to bin is out of the game. The balls are closed so the players must choose balls without know what they are. A killer ball knocks a decimal off the final cash prize, which isn't good.
Once the cash amount is determined, the players are given two final golden balls. One is a split ball and the other is a steal ball. If they both choose split, they get 50% each. If one splits and one steals, the stealer gets all the money and the splitter gets nothing. However, if they both get greedy and steal, they both go home with nothing. The players are allowed to talk to each other before they make their decision but this show is full of liars. There has been a guy who has stolen a lot of money from a woman before and it's quite funny to watch. I am surprised this show is so bad actually, as I'd be pretty annoyed if someone just stole 70k from me after lying. However, this is what makes it so interesting and comical to watch! Highly recommended,
