The title of this comedy sketch programme brings back memories of Peter Sellars and the stereotype Indian accent. Having visited India several times and having friends there I know this stereotype to be wrong. However like all stereotypes there is real basis to it. This programme works on the same idea but also reverses the situation. Here the Indians “mock” the British while at the same time taking a dig at themselves. This is probably what makes it so funny. From whichever “side” you come you can laugh without feeling you have broken some PC code.
If this all sounds a little serious then forget it and watch the program – it is hilarious. There are so many good set characters that appear every week that it is too difficult to pick out a favourite. Is it the two teenagers trying to be cool and not quite making it ? The man who interprets everything and everybody as Indian ? Personally I enjoyed the sketch showing Indian tourists in London the best. I laughed but I also wondered what I look like when I am abroad ......
There have not been too many shows produced but that means that it isn’t overdone and hasn’t become stale or samey.
