Advantages: Addicting

Disadvantages: TOO addicting.

It's just too addicting.

This US drama is all about what's happening in the New York upper class teenage scene, and what they all get up to. It focuses on four beautiful teenagers, Serena and Blair and guys, Chuck and Nate.
The whole glamour, the outfits, the scandal.
Who will Serena take out tonight? Which guy will Blair choose?
When I first watched this programme I wouldn't have thought I would care, but as I got to know the characters, I sympathised on some and I hated on others; always annoyed at the sudden cliffhangers. Sheer frustration has appeared in my eyes more than once, thus I always find myself looking at previews of next episodes.

On the other hand, this is blatant trash TV.
As a result, you will sometimes want to scream "WHO CARES WHAT YOU'RE WEARING" at your television screens: please don't.
You'll only be alarming your family and friends.
Wait til your brain is at it's most relaxed, and that's when you'll fully enjoy Gossip Girl and it's incredible shallowness, however deep it gets.

I have one qualm though.
That it focuses on the adults for about a third of the running time. Who wants to watch adults? I certainly don't.

Summary: Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
