Grand DesignsNewest Review: ... people gone) The good thing about the show is they always take you back to the finished property even if it is sometimes years later. I recently went to the Grand Designs Live show in Birmingham where you could explore new homes and all the latest gadgets available which was great but again aimed at posh people not good honest working class like us. So Kevin if you are reading this get some real people on the show next series. Go onto the Channel 4website and click on Grand designs for more information. There is also a magazine to the show which I think is around £4 per issue... more |

This is the great show that is aired on Channel 4 and usualy runs for around 60 minutes. The show was first shown in 1999 and seems to go from strength to strength and is presented by Kevin Mccloud. The idea of the show is simple, we watch as people either build from scratch or renovate somewhere they can call home. You will see all of the pit falls that can befall you when carrying out such a mamouth task. There are lots of new innovative products that are energy saving and Hi Tec. This is a great programme to watch if you are into the idea of building your own home but something I find recently is the people are always rolling in it and create ... Read the complete review

Intro ------ I have always been a big fan of property programs, watching things such as Property Ladder, Homes under the hammer and Location Location Location quite regularly. However, Grand Designs is probably my favourite. Its a really great show. The program follows different couples or families as they construct their dream home. Obviously they are not just run of the mill brick houses. They always have a philosophy which create wonderfully different and slightly odd, yet magnificent houses. One week there can be something made entirely of wood, the next, a magnificent technological build full of gizmos and extras. Kevin ... Read the complete review

Grand Designs is a channel 4 programme which focuses on people planning, desinging and building their dream homes. It is a popular programme and has had numerous series now. The show has been well thought out and appeals to a wide range of people. It really is inspirational and gives you ideas which you can incorporate into your own home. It also guilds you through the intricate planning process and shows its pitfalls and ways round problems. The one thing that concerns me is the amount of money spent on some of the builds and renovations. Would these prople ever see a return on their investment? I know a lot of these people see the build as a long ... Read the complete review

The older I'm getting the less I find worthy of watching on TV - is it just me?! Thank goodness I found Grand Designs (More Four - Saturday evenings)which I'd thoroughly recommend if you're interested in slightly quirky people who undertake property renovations to create their ideal homes. Forget Changing Rooms & Property Ladder etc - in my opinion this is far better TV. Kevin McCloud is both presenter & writer who introduces us to the people taking part is quite unobtrusive, explains each stage as he takes us to re-visit properties & his manner isn't patronising. Whilst he makes his opinions known he doesn't criticise & is great at ... Read the complete review

Grand Designs is a Channel 4 TV series covering unusual architectural house-building projects, presented by Kevin McCloud. We always try to catch this show, as a joiner I love to see some of the ideas and designs that people come up with. There are some stunning projects and some real odd buildings and ideas from renovations of old sub station, barns, and churches, to amazing new builds. The commitment of some of the people involved with these projects is admirable as they push through some real hard times to achieve there dream homes. You find your self hoping everything turns out for the owners especially those who are on a tight budget and end up doing so much ... Read the complete review
