I really is a national scandal how this once great programme has been allowed to decline over the years. Don't get me wrong, the show itself is good. Well presented, well written - but you can only play with the hand that you are dealt and as the Beeb basically have no sport left to show, it is very very difficult.

Football Focus always has been and still is excellent. You can't beat that Saturday luch time round up of all the weeks action together with previews of the coming day's events. I'm not a big fan of Ray Stubbs but even he is bearable on Focus.

After that though, forget it. The racing coverage is better on Channel 4 as the whole show is devoted to it and is anybody really interested in womens tiddlywinks from Southend? I think not. (Actually I made that last bit up but you get the point.)

Unfortunately, Grandstand has had it's day.

Sky - hang your head in shame.
