Advantages: Lots of romance and drama

Disadvantages: None

I have to admit that the first time I watched Grey's Anatomy it was because of good advertising. I saw an advert on the TV, it was only short but it gave the impression that a lot of the show was about relationships (I'm a sucker for romance) and as I like hospital shows as well I thought I would give it a go. The show was already part way through season 2 when I first watched it and I was hooked after one episode. I decided to stop there and get hold of the DVDs for season 1. I am glad I made that decision because the first season does set out a lot of the story lines for you.

Grey's Anatomy is based around a group of interns at Seattle Grace Hospital, the interns are Meredith Grey, Izzie Stevens, Christina Yang, George O'Mally and Alex Kurev. The other major characters in the show at the beginning are Miranda Bailey, Richard Webber, Derek Shephard and Preston Burke. The series follows the interns through the process of learning to be a surgeon whilst also trying to cope with their private lives. The main relationship in the show is between Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey).

The show led to a spin-off called Private Practice which contains Addison Montgomery (Derek's ex-wife) moving down to California to a friend's practice when she feels the need to get away from Seattle.

Summary: I would recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of romance.
