Harry Enfield's Brand Spanking New ShowNewest Review: ... miss but then what sketch show isn't? Some of my favourites include the bored shagging couple, the outrageously explicit country bumpkin and the posh middle class guy that simply won't listen "YEAH YEAH YEAH, ME NOW, ME." In a departure from the old Harry Enfield Television programme format we now get to see a selection of outtakes at the end of the show which generally involves everyone bursting out laughing at the material or the audience heckling after a fluffed line. Some really good characters and some quite so-so ones too. Good to see Enfield experimenting with new ideas as well as sticking to the tried and trus... more |

Personally I think the new show is fabulous. The Sketches are edgier than before thanks to paramount being a bit more liberal with the editor's knife than the Beeb. The Sketches can be a bit hit and miss but then what sketch show isn't? I have always thought that Harry Enfield and Chums was a brilliant comedy when it was on the BBC. However, it was a bit of a disappointment to learn that the programme was moving to Sky. Therefore, when I got the chance to watch his "spanking new video" I was expecting to get 2 hours of entertainment - instead I got 2 hours of amateur comedy. It was actually quite shocking to see how a comedian like Harry Enfield could deteriorate to coming up with such rot. Of course it would be unfair to say that all of his new sketches are rubbish for there are some very funny ones. However, in comparison to his old sketches, it was pretty poor. ... As you can see from the other reviews of the new Harry Enfield show it's not up to his usual standard. This is the first new material Harry has done in a while and the first time without his usual team. The material seems to be a little more 'bluer' than his previous work. There are some good characters here. The one's that are just shameless copies of celebrities with not even there names changed are pretty good. David Beckham, Jeremy Paxman and Chris Evans. The latter two being more observational humour than laugh out loud. I can't help but like Cornish ladies man. It's simple, it's rude, but for some reason I find it amusing. There are ... This programme is one of the few that make me think that getting cable or sky isnt that good an idea. It is simply bad. I've been a fan of Harry Enfield for quite a while, with a couple of videos and a long list of memories of some ofmy favourite sketchs. However, it seems that Mr. Enfield has decided to abandon his funny characters, such as Tim Nice But Dim or Kevin. He has also been forced to drop other characters, as his fallout with his 'chums' Paul Whitehouse and Kathy Burke rendered characters like the toddlers(who are, i have to say, my favourite), Lee and Lance, the Slobs and countless others. Perhaps Sky were the only ones who would buy this ... Read the complete review

The days of 'Kevin the Teenager' and 'Tim nice but dim' are now in dump at BBC as well should this new series should be. I was looking forward to this new series to see what new charcter the funny man of TV can come up with but I was hugely dissapointed by the charcters, Ok there are some funny ones in there for example the Chris Evans lookalike and soundalike but nothing like his past stuff. The old men who are pretending to be hip are just not funny and some of them are the longest sketches in the programmme. He has also down away with his co-stars , Paul Whitehouse and his co-actor in the Slobs and brought in Casandra from 'Only fools and ... Read the complete review
