Have I got news for is classified under the genre entertainment comedy and current affairs. Broadcast on Friday and repeated Monday on BBC 2 at 10.00 pm. The programme lasts for about 1/2 an hour with regular hosts Ian Hislop and Paul Merton and chaired by a special guest . In addition 2 guests appear different each week. The show is presented in 4 sections these will be covered below. The presenters and guests sit around a table in the shape of a semi circle red is the dominant colour with the chair sitting in the middle. The studio walls are covered with newspaper cuttings.
***THIS WEEK***
This week the guests are Andy Hamilton the writer and Ferne Britton. The chair is hosted by Alexander Armstrong. The show is presented in 4 sections: the 1st section this week includes Tony Blair and a review of the energy crisis, the water shortage. The panel comment on this and make jokes. These are supported by canned laughter. Sections 2 the picture spin quiz - this week the Doncaster Health Authority and interpretations of the English language, the panel try to interpret the picture. 3. Odd 1 out, the panel and viewers are presented with 4 pictures - the panel have to decide which is the odd 1 out. The last section require the panel to suggest words for an incomplete quote from a recent news paper article.
The show is interspersed with quotes and clippings from recent news. The panel answer questions from the chair and comment on the news items. Its television, things move at a terrific pace.
***MY OPINION***
I used to watch this show regularly on BBC 1 and found the light-hearted banter very amusing, the canned laughter gets a bit boring. It repeats on Monday BBC 2 at 22.00 pm, I watched both shows this week still funny the second time around. This week’s guests are relatively unknown however they normally have people of fame from politics (William Hague) comedy and other professions. They sometimes appear on the show as news items. I still thoroughly enjoy it when I have time and recommend you watch it.
