Heartbeat - Great 60's drama (179 words)

Heartbeat is 1960's drama that began in the UK on ITV in 1992. It is police drama. It is set in The village of Aidensfield in Yorkshire. The main police station, however, is based in nearby Ashfordly. When the show started the police needed a new bobby to live in the police house in Aidensfiled. So a policeman and his doctor wife moved from London to Aidensfiled. The bobby was Nick Rowan (Nick Berry who played Wicksy in Eastenders) and his wife was Dr. Kate Rowan (Played by Niamh Cusack). These two caused quite a stir at first because of Nick's different policing attitudes and Kate being a femal doctor. However, they soon settled in nicely and became aquainted with the ..  Read the complete review

Heartbeat: Best thing since the 'Grove Family' (519 words)

I can hear you now! "The Grove family? who are they?". But this is about Heartbeat. Heartbeat is for me the best thing on TV and the absolute highlight of the weeks television viewing (Second to Grove family, but that was long ago) I have pondered over the question why it is so, for as long as I have been watching the programme, and have come up with this explanation. The acting is spot on and the characters are so very believable. They are so northern in their speech and manerisms that you just 'go with it'. I am a Yorkshireman myself and know about this (Grove family were too if I recall correctly). The scenery of the North ...  Read the complete review

A Country Policeman's Lot Is A Busy One (428 words)

Rating:

This successful British series, now in its ninth season, is a nostalgic look at life in Yorkshire during the Sixties. Heartbeat is one of the best shows currently screened on Channel Seven (Australia), and definitely worth watching. There is no sex, occasional violence but it does feature great music, spectacular scenery and believable characters. Heartbeat also reminds us how values have changed. Life in a small country town seems so much simpler and less stressful, although Aidensfield residents still have their troubles. Some things haven’t changed, including feuding neighbours, meddling relatives, various criminal activities, dodgy deals and secret ...  Read the complete review

Heartbeat: HEARTY HEARTBEAT (240 words)

A good all round entertaining show with many characters, who you could well believe would have been around at the time this show was set in THE 60S. Set in the very lovelly Yorkshire, it is based around a police station, public house, and other settings like farms and not forgetting good old Greensrass. For those who don't know who Greengrass is his name is Glaude Greengrass and he is the village rougue, you know the type, long mac, wellies and trousers held up with some rope from the shed. He is always into something that he shouldn't really be into. He is played by Bill Mainard who I think you will all agree is a spectacular actor in whatever he ...  Read the complete review
