Hell's Kitchen is currently on ITV2, on Sky channel 118 on Mondays at 9pm. This show is on for an hour and at the start of the newest series it was on for a double bill, which is great to watch, but it speeds the series up, which maybe isn't that good! This show has been on for a few series. It has had the British ones, The USA ones and the "celebrity" ones.
So what is the show? Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsey takes 12 people who want to run a restaurant and they battle it out in the kitchen to be the winner. The winner gets to run one of Gordon's restarant. I'm not sure how long they get to run it, if it's a year, all the time or what, but it's the winning that counts. I think there only has been 1 British show, but the American ones usually run a new restaurant in Vegas or LA.
This is a reality show and the 12 wannabee's are just average people who have applied. More often than not they have some cooking experience, weather it be working as a chef, working in a diner, others just are interesting in cooking.
At the beginning the 2 teams are split into the Red Kitchen and the Blue Kitchen and they both cook for the Hell's Kitchen restaurant. Each week there is a winning team and that is usually the team that has served the most people without mistakes or cooked the food properly. As the show goes on and people are eliminated eventually the remaining contestants end up in just the 1 team and they work together. The winning team get some kind of treat each time, weather it be going out for dinner with Gordon, Getting a shopping trip and so on, and the losing team have to do something bad like cleaning all the glasswear, doing all the winning team's prep for evening service and so on.
Each week 2 people for the losing team are chosen to be up for elimination and Gordon decided who is going home.
So what's so good about this show in my view? It's more funny than anything. I don't know why celebrity chef's have such bad temper, but Gordon's temper is bad at most times. He goes about shouting and swearing at the contestants and has been known to throw plates and cutlery about in his temper, so it is entertaining, as he can be very volitile.
I like the American ones, but hope the British one will appear again, as I prefer the Brits, as I can relate to them better.
Good entertaining show with a few laughs along the way.
