Advantages: One of the most intelligent and addictive programs in existance

Disadvantages: Be prepared to waste hours even days catching up with those new episodes

Heroes, in it's most generalised sense is a program following the lives of newly emerging superheroes. I must admit when I first heard about it, I thought it would be just another one of those 'same-y', overly done, "Smallville" type teen melodramas.
How wrong I was!

Heroes takes the fantasy/drama genre and turns it on it's head. Rather than focusing on the magical, Heroes is all about the people. Tim Kring puts character development and the portrayal of real lives above everything else, and really creates heroes that people can relate to and like.

In the similar vein to programs like "Lost", "Heroes" has shot to fame through it's complex and twisting plotline. Every episode a shock or revelation is around the corner, and by mixing these cliffhangers with steady morsels of information it keeps the viewer addicted and always coming back for more.

I don't want to give too much away to the "Heroes" newcomers, so all I will advise is that because the storyline is so intertwined and so much happens per episode is it nearly essential to start watching from the beginning to be able to grasp the whole scope of the story and the people within it.

For those already into the series' I would definetly say I preferred the first two to the third. The latest episodes have been a bit too fast paced for me and I would prefer the writers to take it back to the original premis of being about the people instead of the drama. Then again I'm intruiged to see where the writers will take the series next, whether new characters will be introduced or how they could make the program any more shocking or intriguing than it already is.

Despite my opinion on the latest episodes however, I am still a fully fledged Heroes addict, and would encourage all newcomers and fans to become the same- you won't look back.

Summary: Once you're hooked, you're hooked!
