Advantages: Watch celebs humiliate themselves for charity
Disadvantages: Brain numbingly rubbish
What has happened to Saturday Evening Entertainment?
Every week I find myself subjected to watching this show which is on BBC 1 at around 5.40pm and hosted by the camper than ever Dale Winton.
If you like Takeshi's Castle or anything that really does not require any brain power then Hole in the Wall is for you. This is not all that suprising that I discovered it originated from Japan.
This show has taken the world by storm as various versions are being produced and aired.
Our British version doesn't really have overly famous celebrities offering some stars from Hollyoaks, Vanessa Feltz and some past sports stars who participate in one of the teams.
Enter two teams, red and blue.
The red team is headed up by Anton Du Beke along with 2 other celebrities and the blue team is lead by Darren Gough and 2 other celebrities.
The main aim of the game is to position youself into various shapes to enable you to pass through the wall, made out of polysterene but failure to mirror the shape will result in the team member being pushed by the wall into a pool behind the play area.
Sometimes a celeb will be required to take on the wall by themselves, or there is a challenge where they are required to use a prop to form the shape that will be created in the wall or they will have a mathematical question that they need to answer correctly in order to pass through the hole in the wall that has been concealed.
This may sound shocking enough but the celebrities have to also endure the embarrassment of wearing a shockingly shiny silver lycra all in one suit along with the attractive hard helmets and elbow and knee pads.
Celebs endure this embarrassment to win the prize fund of £10,000 (no doubt licence payers money) which is then donated to the chosen celebrities charity.
This is not the most thrilling show on television but it will have you chuckling at the celebrities desperate to win the prize fund and you will laugh when they fail to get through the wall and end up with a soaking.
I personally don't expect there to be a second series after the first 10 episodes air but then again it all depends on the ratings it receives!
Dale is annoying enough but somehow every week this lands on our TV screen and I am forced to watch it, there is very low comedy rating on this show and hardly any entertainment value on the show so how it got commissioned is anybody's guess but I do expect to see the show on Challenge TV in the years to come as people tire of it and the ratings decrease, if they haven't already.
Summary: A show that should not be on bbc1 on saturday prime time
