Advantages: fun at first
Disadvantages: soon gets dull
WHAT IS IT ABOUT:
Celebrity contestants must contort their bodies to fit the polystyrene shape moving towards them. If they fail, they fall in the water.
IS IT ANY GOOD:
This show is one of those programmes that is a real novelty at first, but then soon wears off. It's actually based on a Japanese show, and is syndicated in the US too - heaven knows why! Now, I admit I loved it at first - it's a lot of fun as you have just a few secons to look at the shape coming towards you and get into position before it hits you, but that's the only interesting thing about the show, and that soon wears off.
Dale Winton does a good job as host, but I can't help wondering why this guy is still on our screens - surely his day is over?
The teams being made up of celebrities adds another level of enjoyment to the show, as it would be boring watching unknowns. At least this way, when you see Vanessa Feltz attempt to contort her body into the shape of a size ten woman, you have all the back-history of her to make it even funnier.
As with all of these shows, the celebrities are Z list at best, but that doesn't mean they're not enjoyable - maybe in the next series they can get some major celebs to take part?
IF YOU LIKED IT:
Total Wipeout is a similar show in that it poses physical and fun challenges to contestants, but there are a variety of rounds which makes it a bit more interesting. However, I have to say again that the novelty wears off after a while.
IN CONCLUSION:
A fun concept but not enough to power a whole series.
Summary: worth a couple of viewings
