Advantages: Unique story lines

Disadvantages: bad acting, the cheesy text message on screen thing

I have been watching this soap opera for a while now. It is set in the fictional village of Hollyoaks, which is supposedly near Chester. It is on channel 4 each weeknight and on e4 as well. There are not too many characters in the show and it seems to be targeted at a younger audience than some of the other, older traditional soaps on UK tv. A lot of the characters are students and so of course there are plenty of scrapes involved in the plot lines. I kow this is a soap but it is really quite ridiculous.

I think sometimes the acting in this show is very poor. Some cast members appear to only have got parts because they have been perceived as being pretty. The theme music at the moment is quite rocky and recently there has been a spin off shown later on channel 4 involving some of the characters in the show - with added swearing. One to watch if you fancy something a bit racier than Corrie but its the kind of thing you could dip in and out of because its not the most serious of TV soaps.

Summary: The UK student soap - suitable for the unwashed only.
