My Fav soap opera (Hollyoaks)

Hollyoaks started its run on Channel four in 1995, it still running and now five nights a week aired at 6.30pm on channel four, or the next days show is at 7pm on E4. Hollyoaks is a teen-soap based in Chester.

I say that hollyoaks is a teen soap-opera however it is viewed more and my by adults as they ahve introduced elder characters into the soap, even my mum watches it!

Music - Hollyoaks is the only soap opera to conatin incedental music, meaning it usually starts and finishes with a song. Most fans would have noticed it usually begins with either a chart song, or trendy known song, bands that have been featured include The Killers, MGMT , U2 and the arctic monkeys. Throughout an episode you'll her music, whetehr its in a sequence of some kind, eg the fire at the loft led me to fall in love with Club Foot by Kasabian. They may be music playing in a scene, eg in the SU Bar, even better they may have bands play, recently the Saturdays and McFly have featured. Then Hollyaosk ends on a song, the other Day it ended on Journey - dont stop believeing - I loved it!

Families - Hollyoaks has added more families to the hollyoaks charcter set, we used to have the Cunninghams and the Hunters as the main families, but now we have more eg the cunnighams are sort-of still about, we have the Ash-woths, McQueens, The Roys and a few of the Deans are still pottering on. The addition of familes alike i any soap, creates a set of various characters which diferrent members of viewing families can relate to, creating more fans of the soap.

Sexuality - Where other soaps such as Corrie and Eastenders may potter around gay issues, Hollyoaks throws sexuality straight out there, there are gay, lesbian relationships, Sarah and Kris are both Bi-sexual and Nancy Ravi and Kris endured in a three-way relationship! Theres no holds-barred in Hollyaosk and i love it, thats what happens these days, why try and pretend peoplke dont have these varied relationships, its great that Hollyoaks views these great storylines.

SexAppeal - Hollyoaks is renowned for having probably the hottest cast ever! Its great and hillarious, there is noone ugly on the show, i love it!

Characters - There is a great range of characters in Hollyoaks and their all quite varied and funny in their own ways. I love how they have incorporated different trends, such as Newt and Lauren the "emos" and the Mcqueens are a "chav" family! Its great to combine different trends in society.

Storylines - The most recent big storyline has been focused around baby snatching, it was a new and interesting concept for Hollyoaks and a great watch. Other huge storylines over the years have included date rape, incest, adoption and Fraud. Some of the storylines do appear ridiculous as if all these crazy happenings could happen in such a small village, but then again its great that Hollyoaks writers take the risk to portray these issues and show how the characters cope i these situations.

Awareness - At end credits there is usally a helpline advertised for anyone who has dealt with the issues in todays show.

Late Night Episodes - Late night naughty episodes sually come about maybe once or twice a year, the last big one featured character Sarah and Zoe havinga drunken lesbian romp which then led on to be a big storyline as Zoe was with Sarahs dad!

Overall Hollyoaks is fab, im 22 i love it, my sister is 18 and loves it, my mum is 54 and loves it! Its great!

Summary: a great watch for everyone
