Disadvantages: Each episode is only 30 mins long (inc breaks)
Hollyoaks is the hit teen soap opera on Channel 4. The show is based on a fictional village called Hollyoaks in the town of Chester and follows the lives of people in the village and their ups & downs.
The cast is a relatively young cast which makes it stand out from other soaps with a focus on the local school and Hollyoaks college. This makes for great viewing for the younger crowd, like myself, it draws in more younger viewers than it's competitors. It also means lot of hot guys and guys to eye up on a Sunday morning during the omnibus. The show air's on weekdays Monday to Friday at 1830 on Channel 4 you can then switch to E4 the C4 spin-off channel for tomorrows episode, which is great for when you just can't wait to see what happens next.
The storylines are fantastic and very well written it has some big storylines under it's belt including sexual confusion, rape allogations, murder and explosions to name just a few along with the usual soap dramas of death, birth, marriage & divorce.
The characters, as I said are mainly younger, but you do have older members of the cast who are great too, the actors & actresses are really good too, fresh young talent who act out their parts very well.
The special effects are great during the big storylines the cast and crew do a fantastic job at producing a show that air's 5 days a week then on the Sunday you can catch up on every episode that week in a 2hr 30min omnibus edition on C4.
Hollyoaks is a fantastic show that grips in hundreds of thousands of viewers each week night.
Summary: Hollyoaks is a fantastic, cool teen soap opera
