Horizon

Newest Review: ... goes about his business while being filmed. What also adds a nice element to Horizon is that there is always a variation in presenters so we are not always shown the same people. This helps to keen the viewers interest over the series. An excellent aspect of horizon is that various opinions are always shown and there is definitely an unbiased view on matters. This makes the viewer able to trust what they are watching. Horizon is probably one of the more intellectual programmes offered by the bbc and wouldn't necessarily appeal to all people. For any science student or simply somebody with an interest in all things science, there is n... more

Premium Review Horizon: Want to learn something? (198 words)

Rating:

Horizon covers such a large variety of subjects but tends to have a particular interest in the sciences. Since it began in 1964, there have been over 1000 episodes spanning various different subjects. An episode can last anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the subject and usually sticks to the same format. There will be a narrator who explains what is being studied or investigated in the programme, and there will be a separate person who doesn't speak directly to the camera but goes about his business while being filmed. What also adds a nice element to Horizon is that there is always a variation in presenters so we are not always shown the same people. ...  Read the complete review

--Introduction-- Horizon is a weekly documentary show broadcast on the BBC. It is shown on BBC Two and each separate instalment lasts for 50-minutes. The documentaries focus on the world of science, looking into all fields from biology to chemistry and the environment to medical exploration. It also incorporates history and geography into its programmes, examining a wide scope of subjects. The programme is hugely respected around the world, especially in the science community. Many people view it as the leader in producing the documentaries that it does, always setting the standard by which all similar programmes are judged. In this review, I ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Horizon: Pure Science, pure drama! (594 words)

This has to be one of BBC 2's best series' ever. Horizon has been going for years, and rightly so! Horizon is BBC 2's flagship 50 minute science documentary series. It regularly wins a sweep of international science, medical and environmental film awards, and recently has won a BAFTA. Horizon reveals stories about science: its activity, its applications, its methods, its philosophies, its magic and wonder....to name a few! Source material is very wide: recent series have ranged from the discovery of ancient bodies frozen in ice, through pure mathematical achievement, to surgery on the unborn foetus. It deals with ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Lead us to the new horizon of science (242 words)

I always say BBC has the best documentaries shown and I always love most of the BBC documentaries, such as the famous Walking With Dinasour. Horizon is a long run BBC documentary show that talks about science technology which includes astronomy (which I like most), medical technologies and biology and so forth. Indeed, I learnt a lot from this documentary which more than I read because with images and voices, I can remember stuff more vividly and can understand more easily. I still remember there is one show on Horizon that talked about black hole. Who knows what black hole is in a normal life. I reckon that Horizon is really a horizon for us, normal people who ...  Read the complete review

Horizon Rules. (211 words)

Rating:

The long running Horizon on BBC 2 is back with another series of programmes dealing with just about any subject under the sun. If you are the sort of person who likes to learn about what goes on in this world then Horizon on Thursday evenings is a must for you. The opening programme dealing with Tsunamis gave us a chilling reminder how nature, in it's fury, can sweep humanity and animals aside without care or consideration. The forecast mega-tsunami to beat all others is something you only dream about in your worst nightmares. But as was told, it could be on the verge of happening and there is absolutely nothing that we can do about it ...  Read the complete review
