Horne and Corden ShowNewest Review: ... the first episode and was horribly disappointed. This is a comedy sketch show but the comedy is really thin on the ground. Thin to the point of being non-existant. The vast majority of the "comedy" seems to be based around Corden being overweight. One particularly awful sketch shows them at a burger stand and Corden suddenly realises he's got a belly on him and they immediately ... more |

Oh dear, oh dear. This the result of two over-inflated egos being constantly told they're really funny guys - it makes them think that they don't even need to try any more. Having been a fan of Gavin and Stacey, I was expecting good things from Horne and Corden. I tuned in to the first episode and was horribly disappointed. Having never seen their previous critically acclaimed sitcom, Gavin and Stacey, I was not really expecting a great deal from these two otherwise virtually unknown comedians. However, given the status they had attained from around the time the sit-com ended, I felt compelled to check out their brand new sketch show - I was less than impressed. Armed only with boring, painfully predictable set-ups and generic gags, these two comic novices struggle to even appeal to the great unwashed. It was positively agonizing to see them fail so spectacularly at employing even the most elementary of comic devices; Irony, satire, slapstick, all falling flat on ... Read the complete review

James Corden and Matthew Horne have created much press in the past few years with their outstanding performances in the hit British comedy Gavin and Stacey, and they also had another hit at this year's Comic Relief with a few performances. And this show as a result was meant to be a huge success, relying mostly on the funny antics of James Corden, one of the funniest comedians in the country at the moment, but does it live up to all that it promises to be? The answer, unfortunately has to be no. While Horne and Corden are very funny in other shows and events, they do not do well in their new show. There are a few funny scenes, maybe one or two for each ... Read the complete review

I really enjoyed Gavin and Stacey and loved the tender and pretty truthful relationship Horne and Corden built up as the show progressed. And so when I heard that Mat Horne and James Corden were going to write and perform a sketch show together I didn't hold out hope for great things. Now that may seem like quite a strange statement coming from someone who had enjoyed them working together on a previous show But trust me it does make some sense. The strength of Gavin and Stacey was that it had many slightly odd but relatively believable characters and it was the interaction between members of the ensemble cast that made it good. The jokes themselves weren't particularly ... Read the complete review

Comedy sketch shows. Who can forget when Little Britain burst on our screens a few years ago and it was hilarious if someone in the pub imitated Anne's "a-a-a-" noise or said "I want that one" in the voice of Andy? Admittedly after a couple of series this wore thin and we all lost interest but that's the difference between shows like Little Britain and the the Horne and Corden Show, we were initially interested. Matthew Horne and James Corden are best known for their roles in the superb Gavin and Stacey and they've done some presenting together too which has always been amusing. James Corden has also appeared on a number of shows alone ... Read the complete review
