Advantages: appeals to our love of voyeurism
Disadvantages: pretends to be about cleaning
WHAT IS IT ABOUT:
Kim and Aggie are two women who we are led to believe are 'house cleaning experts'. Now, for the first time ever, and from the comfort of your own home, you get to join the two as they go into the houses of disgusting, lazy, dirty people. After a little period of shaming the owner at just how disgusting they are, they clean it all up for them, giving us at home a few tips about water with sodium bicarbonate or some such wonder, then toddle off out the door again.
IS IT ANY GOOD:
You may infer from the above write-up that I don't like this show, but I do. In fact, I love it. It's the sort of show that you love to hate, but it passes 30 minutes quite happily.
It appeals to our joy of voyeurism: our need to see what's going on in next door's living room. It also makes us feel better about our own, moderately dirty, houses. What it doesn't do is teach us much about cleaning, simply because our houses are never THAT dirty anyway (if they were we wouldn't watch the show surely?)
The presenters are a bit of a laugh, particularly Kim who plays with her 'big busty matron' sexual powers with good fun. Aggie is like the girl who got bullied at school, and now can't quite believe she's famous.
My only gripe with the show is that it pretends it's about cleaning, when really it's about voyeurism and judging people (something we all seem to feel the need to do). In reality it's not so far removed from the freak show that is the Jerry Springer show.
IN CONCLUSION:
If you're looking for cleaning tips, Google it, but if you want to cringe at how dirty some people are, then retire peacefully to the comparative clean of your own house, then go ahead!
Summary: fun to watch

- 01/02/09 There have been many people appear on this show who are not just disgusting, lazy, dirty people - some quite clearly have had psychological problems which have been barely addressed. |
