Advantages: Different strylines each weak but with common themes
Disadvantages: cast does tend to change from series to series
Really glad to see this programme returning to our screens - and hasn't been moved onto Sky!!
This series has seen the return of Adrian Lester in the main role of Mickey. he was my favourite member of the cast and the last series really lacked his character I thought. He seems to encapsulate perfectly the "loveable rogue" character that we all tend to love from earlier TV and film generations.
Hustle manages to be lighthearted when it needs to be and deadly serious at others when the story needs it.
It also manages to use innovative techniques when it is shot, last week we saw the characters enter into the scene almost in a dream like state. The programme also uses the split screen technique which we have come so used to in programmes like Spooks and 24. This can sometimes make it a little difficult to follow as so much can be happening in a short space of time.
It always keeps you guessing until the end so there is always that little part of you that wants to guess how they managed to pull the final con off or will they get caught this time.
This is pure escapement and an hours enjoyment for thursday evening - if you haven't seen it before give it a try you may be pleasantly surprised
Summary: Good solid entertainment
