Advantages: Hilariously bad

Disadvantages: Totally crap TV

I mentioned in my review of 'Pimp my Ride' that I occasionally watch some dodgy television - however, the programme I am about to review is on a whole new level of wrong! Fitting into the 'reality show' genre, 'I love New York' is arguably TV at its worst.

I don't know if you ever watched 'Flavour of Love' - the reality show in which crazy rapper 'Flava Flav' is looking for a new wife - well, 'New York' (real name Tiffany Pollard) was a contestant on that show, and due to her... let's say, aggravated nature, she was given a show of her own - and 'I Love New York' is the awful result.

Along the lines of Flavour of Love, this time it's New York who is looking for a mate, and has initially twenty men to choose from. The men are put in a mansion, with the ultimate prize of becoming New York's new husband. Each episode ends with a couple of contestants being voted off, leaving the remainder of the guys to fight for the affections of the z-list celeb.

For the duration of the show, the men live in the house alongside New York, and are set challenges, with the winner getting a chance to date N.Y for the evening - it's ultimately really, really crap TV - but take it all with a pinch of salt, and it's bloody entertaining.

The men in the show are complete weirdo's, and there are some thoroughly bizarre characters on display. The way the programme is edited makes the unusual nature of the characters even more apparent, and doesn't show any of them in a good light. Each of the guys are completely obsessed with their potential new missus, and would do seemingly anything for her - in return, New York leads them all on and basically acts like a glorified whore. The ridiculous thing is, is that the show is already in its second series, meaning that the whole process has been done once before with obviously short-lasting results.

Helping New York choose her new man is her mother 'Sister Patteson' - a really strange character who takes no nonsense. Sister is one of the most entertaining 'characters', and it's funny seeing the contestants desperately trying to impress her.

Due to the sheer awfulness of I Love New York, I can only award the show one star - but it's one star of pure 'it's-so-bad-it's-good' entertainment. If you're feeling a bit low and want a cheap laugh at the idiocracy of others, then the show may be worth a look - if not, steer well clear!

The current series of I Love New York is being shown at 10pm throughout the week on TMF.

Summary: Ridiculous Show

OMG I want to watch this show now, just so I can point and laugh and well see how bad it is. Does it have the disclaimer that some scenes are made up in the interest of entertainment? I love that one. Yes trashy TV does make me laugh.

I agree with the one star, but not that its so bad, its good. I saw part of one episode and was so totally and utterly disgusted I never watched it again. How anyone can watch this is beyond me, and now there's a new season out. Go figure!
