Advantages: Totally captures a young childs attention.

Disadvantages: You will find yourself singing the songs........upsy daisy here I come

What a strange idea. I dont know what Anne Wood has but her programmes seem to capture little ones minds and take them off into a different land.

The night garden is one of her new creations and my 17 month old daughter is addicted. As soon as she sees the dark night sky with all the stars coming on CBeebies she holds out her hand ready for your finger to go round and round. She dances and tries to sing-a- long.

The contrast of colours are vibrant and eye catching and the characters are strangely endearing but I think one of the things that really appeals to my 17 month old is the music. She has a different dance for Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy but her favourite thing of all are all the birds - Titifers - that sit in tree and peck back and forwards making a different musical note each time. My little one stands and it does something that resembles head banging when this comes on. It introduces them to music at an early age and encourages friendship which is vital for young childrens development.

I think ultimately this is good programme that is not made for adults to analyse but for children to enjoy.

Summary: A bright, light hearted, entertaining programme aimed at kids 9 months - 3 years (or 28 in my case)

I'm sure ITNG sends out hypnotising radio waves out of the TV set. My 18 mth old is transfixed EVERY time it comes on!
